Wallace can take care of himself, not too worried about this kind of talk. Not like he's a puny WR or even the QB for that matter.

That being said, I hope he keeps his head on straight for this game. The refs are most likely going to be clamping down on anything over the line, especially with our team - and we don't need to bounced from the playoffs because of a stupid PF at a critical moment.

Yup, he needs to keep his emotions in check, let the Broncos do something. Refs are going to have 0 patients for BS.

Denver has also said they are going after Ben's shoulder whenever they can in a legal manner.

Well, to be completely honest and not a homer at all - if I'm Denver's DC, I'm telling my guys to A) put Ben to the turf (legally) as early and often as possible AND B) talk so much trash to Cody Wallace that he screws himself (and the Steelers) into multiple PF penalties. I hate it, but it's just too obvious.

Yeah, that's just basic coaching 101. Which means that Ben knowing this going in; HAS to get rid of the ball and just throw the ball away instead of trying to make something out of EVERY play.

They better be careful who they threaten. They might just end up getting one of Wallace's on field colonoscopy's. No anesthesia either.

Good luck with that. LOL! I agree with you though. Their d line is not our d line and if you give them any time whatsoever they are gonna be hitting the qb early and often. Without AB out there to be open on every play we are gonna face as uphill of a task as we have in a long time. The dude is a complete difference maker.

IF Ben is ok to throw a deep ball this weekend... make sense to goat Denver into thinking he cant' throw past 10 yards? Then burn them deep as soon as Denver bites?

If Brown can't go and it sounds like that's the case.. I think we're screwed.

If AB is out and Ben's shoulder limits/affects his throws (something he'd NEVER publicly admit, btw), the only thing worse than losing in Denver would be Cincinnati fans crowing about the Steelers being one-and-done, karma, and so on.

Well I don't think steeler fan really cares what Bengal fan thinks. They are our bit**. We own them. We are so in their heads they beat them selves. They can enjoy watching the game crying about how it should be them playing. It's now about us and the Broncos. Two classy organizations that know about winning in the playoffs. If we lose because Ben is not effective due to injury, then I guess their thug ways took us down...but we still beat them.

The fact that we might lose because the Bengals took out our players via cheap shots is just all the more reason that the 3 game suspension is a joke. How can you let a player or players do what they did to intentionally take out players? The league is a fraud. They talk this BS about protecting players and good sportsmanship...then they do nothing to uphold what they talk about. The integrity of the game is being widdled away and Roger is helping it happen. The NFL is losing fans. I see it everywhere. I know so many people that used to be fans but no longer care. Kids don't play the game like they used to. There's more kids playing soccer and lacrosse in a lot of schools. I watch the steelers play and I turn off the tv. I used to watch every game. I know I'm not alone. It's crap like this that chips away at the fan base.

Well it's not really one and done though....more like 2 and done! LMAO!

If AB can't go, you think they throw Coates in the mix? I mean that's his intended purpose to be another catch underneath, but be the threat to take it to the house! I'd like to see it and it would be another unknown variable for Denver to deal with.

Absolutely. After all the media attention on the "chippiness" of the Bengals game, I wouldn't be surprised if the officials are under strict instructions to come down on any kind of "shenanigans".

As a sidepoint, I'm wondering if the words "chippiness" and "shenanigans" have been used quite this much in any other week in professional sport.

I'm glad Wallace got in their heads. Maybe they'll be focused on him rather than assignments. We'll need all the help we can get against that defense, which will be totally different than the one we beat earlier.

Wallace does something in piles to piss people off. Besides goosing opposing players, he either farted or had bad breath. After one of Todman's runs on Sat night, Wallace got in the pile, got up casually and then a Bungle got up and shoved Wallace. Couldn't tell what Cody did but it sure seemed funny.

I would say Ben being hampered or even out would affect us 1000% more than just AB being out. If this offense were all about nothing but AB, then I truly believe we would have been home watching the playoffs instead of playing in them. I don't think AB being out is an automatic "we're screwed" situation, not by a longshot. We're pretty deep on talent at WR. Yeah, AB pulls a man away from someone else, but it's not just 2 WR's we have either.

That said, as someone else pointed out, this is the perfect opportunity for Ben to kill the Broncos with dink-and-dunk stuff all day.

Would love to see some Coates action. Even if it's a playoff game, another big and strong WR may be something to use against their physical secondary. Would like to see more Jesse James, too, if we're going pass heavy.

Dink and dunk stuff is very difficult and risky when the opponent is defending against it. Press coverage and bring up the safeties. That's like trying to complete a pass in the end zone on the 5 yard line every play. It's difficult and often results in turnovers and 3 and outs. Brown is our best option in the "dink and dunk" passing game. It also makes our run game that much more difficult. I think Ben will be able to throw some deep balls. If not I expect to see Jones in the game at some point. Our offense never does well when we can't complete deep passes. We live and die with the HR. That's why we haven't been scoring since we last played Denver... teams are taking away the deep ball and dropping LB's into coverage. It's giving us fits for some reason.

I think the plan should be more like the NE dink-n-dunk, which usually has some runs and the infrequent mid-to-deep throw sprinkled in to keep from becoming one-dimensional. Even without AB, PIT has deep threats that have to be respected ... assuming DEN thinks Ben has any ability to make the throw.
