    Hey everybody,

Thought I should tell you that I think I am gradually turning into a message board jerk. When I first joined the old board as FreeTibet a few years back, I was very patient and calm with everyone, even if I thought they were stupid or crazy. I was great at ignoring and being the "mature" one. Well today all that ends. I can't do it anymore. I have to show restraint in the rest of my life, and if I'm ever going to snap, it's better it be here than out in the world. And most of the time I get more frustrated with you guys than the rest of life anyway. I don't mean to offend everyone here, but I've said many times before and still believe that the vast majority of football fans are morons. Steeler fans, too. All teams. Different fan bases have different characteristics, and we are in fact the best fan base in my opinion because our characteristic is helpful to the team -- we travel. Better than anyone. That's better than Philly's fans, who are known for booing their own players for so much as coughing. Nevertheless, we are mostly morons. As are a lot of the players, and commentators and pundits. I accept this, but from now on when I have the chance to tell a moron that he is a moron and list the reasons why, I am going to take it. I apologize in advance for my change. I know grumpy guses are not as pleasant to be around. I just can't take it anymore. You may have noticed the change taking place already. It's been going on for awhile; I just thought I would make it official and add an explanation. I still might be nice and will definitely ignore things from time to time anyway, but I thought you might appreciate a heads up.

Oh, and for those of you that think Mendenhall is soft, Mike Wallace is overrated or that we should cut Heath Miller, let me break this down for you in pictures.

If you make me feel like this: :frustrated: I will get  and call you on your :bscow:

    Go Steelers! :towel:

    Huge,
Sounds to me you got so use to the old board, where MAYBE 40% of the viewers were able to post. And Id say 40% is way high..Here you are getting near 100% precipitation you are really hearing what THE STEELER FANS really think. A lot of them may not agree with you.So your getting all ticked off and going to change your posting policy.

Just man up....More people more opinions.

As such...Less opinions that agree with yours.

Your opinion is valued here! Dont turn into a jerk.Just tell us what you REALLY think.Thats what this board is all about.

You'll mellow back out. I used to be like that too. Not necessarily on a Steeler board (although I've been known to slam someone's opinion in the past. I try not to, at least not harshly anymore.) But on a board of another nature, yeah, I wasn't always nice or respectful.

Now, I try to remind myself that sometimes you just have to let it slide. Remember that on a lot of forums, and sports forums especially, people will vent. A lot of the time, they know they're going overboard, or being unfair, but they just have to get it off their chests. There's 5 ways you can deal with what you consider to be a ludicrous, or moronic post:

    Ignore it.

Calmly disagree - preferably by showing why they may wish to at least reconsider their position. "You're wrong" isn't enough. :) (and it's OK to disagree, and admit that neither side will meet)

Laugh it off and make light of it in a friendly way.

    Belittle them.

    Attack them.

The last 2 ways aren't very constructive. It's human nature, but not really conducive to creating dialogue. I know I need to avoid drunk posting as I lose my self-censor. Sometimes, you just have to take a step back.

But after a while, you just mellow out and go with the flow. My favorite way to deal with ad nauseum posts that irk me isn't really allowed here by our rules. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/ ... tagain.jpg

Eh, it's nothing new. On all sports boards (the old board included) ridiculous threads can come in and out like the tides. Sometimes there's dry spells, but other times there can be a few threads of nonsense on a page at a given time. It is what it is. I always liked FreeTibet. I generally found the content of his posts to be articulate, well thought out, and polite. I hope that wouldn't change just because of a surge in the number of posts you don't agree with. Besides, the last thing the internet needs is more message board jerks. ;-)

Yeah, like most people that eventually made it on, it took me years to get onto the old board (I think around 3 years, but I'm not sure). I don't think it's the number of people or opinions here that's getting to me, it's just the amount of time. For some reason I expect things to change, but of course they don't.

I also think that telling you what I REALLY think is my way of saying I'll be a jerk. I don't plan on calling anyone names, I'm just not going to hold back as much.

Yeah, I'll probably swing back and forth. Just felt like doing some venting of my own, and thought I owed all my fans an explanation so they wouldn't be taken by surprise. That's a joke. I know I really only have one die-hard fan that follows me closely (Knox).

I love that second picture, by the way. I think I'll put it on my next Christmas card.

Well, we'll see what kind of a jerk I turn out to be. I think that after reading all of your comments and doing some more thinking, what I've discovered is that I'm not going to really be mean, I'm just going to be a little "harder" on people and try not to feel as guilty about it. Basically I'm just going to be the same but change how I feel about it. I always feel a little bad about ranting against someone, especially when I feel like I'm totally winning, which is always  . I'm just going to try to drop the guilt, I guess. Thanks for the kind words. There are a handful of posters around here that I always give extra consideration to when reading, and you're definitely one of them TTF.

    Yeah... Just speak your mind.
No point in being politically correct!
Say what you mean, and mean what you say.
Funny, how most people say honesty is the best policy...
    Until you`re honest with them!
Sure, there are times, when I follow momma`s advice about, "If you don`t have something nice to say, then don`t say anything at all".
Those are the times, I just don`t reply to a thread...
But, if I do reply, and someone insults me... I WILL tell them exactly what i think about them!
There is also a completely different side, to this conversation, where two (or more), people can disagree,
But can debate things, in a civil tone.
Almost a lost art, nowadays, but I do see it happen here, from time to time, when posters reason with each other, and try to prove their points thru statiscs/anecdotes, etc...
I have even seen, on VERY rare occasions (gasp), someone change their mind, when they realize they were previously wrong about the point they believed in...
For the most part, though, everyone here believes they are are right about what they say, and no amount of arguing, is going to change their mind.
Leads to some great reading, until it devolves into name-calling, and insults!... Hahahaha...
    GO STEELERS!

Speaking of honesty, how come your posts always look like horizontal sound bars bouncing up and down? I don't know what they're called, but you know what I mean.

It doesn't bother me, I've just always wondered if you're writing from a phone or typewriter or something.

    Hahahah....
Dunno, never really thought about it.
I guess i tend to hit enter at the end of every sentence, instead of stringing sentences into paragraphs, then breaking the paragraphs up.
If I`m getting rather wordy, then sometimes I write in paragraph form, just not normally.
At least I break my sentences up, instead of typing a "wall of text".
The poster I`ve always wondered about, is "Wardismvp"(I think)...
Their posts are almost always broken up into lines like 7 or 8 words long.
REGARDLESS of whether the sentence is finished, before starting another line.
I never thought about typing from a phone. Maybe that`s the case, with him.
I just don`t type all that fast, either. Never bothered to re-learn the proper typing style I learned way back in 7th grade.
So, i just do what`s quickest/easiest. And being on a message board, i usually just write "stream of conciousness" style,
without trying to follow proper grammar/ languge/ format "rules"....
Now, go pick on someone else, ya big meanie! ;) (just kidding)
