That doesn't even make any sense.
There's 10 other teams in the AFC that didn't make it to the playoffs. So I guess by them all losing and sucking they helped the playoff teams make it?

Who cares if the Jets lost to Buffalo the last week of the season? If they would've lost a game earlier in the season ended beat the Bills result would've been the same.
Guess you got to go 16–0 to deserve your spot in the playoffs now?

I know the easy answer is "yes", but I'll reserve judgment until after the Bengals game Saturday night. If we come out prepared and fight hard, win or lose, then I'll say it was a success. However, if we come out unprepared and flop like we have several times this season against lesser opponents - then the answer will be a resounding "no". (from me at least, I'm sure others will praise MT win or lose, prepared or unprepared)

we earned it. the jets didn't take care of their business. that's why each team plays 16 games. it's no different than if it was any other week the jets lost before the last one. they knew if they ended tied with us we get in.

We haven't won a playoffs game in 5 years! If we lose you are not going to hear the end of it until we finally get off the schneid....

Win your games, seal your division, clinched the playoff's get the bye, homefield advantage. Win the conference and head to Levi's Stadium taking the lombardi. That's the success i'm speaking of.

I'm thinking you and i have a different meaning of the word and it's extent.

Apparently you don't fully grasp how hard it is to actually win a championship.

Considering how they backdoor'd in? No, I wouldn't consider that a success. Yeah, a lot of injuries but the players stepped up. You can go back and blame a few losses on coaching. They have to beat the Bengals. If they give Lewis/Bengals their 1st playoff win, I'd rather they not even make it.

And if we win one game, it will be "we haven't been to an AFC Championship in x years"
And if we win get to the AFC championship, it will be "we haven't been to a super bowl in x years"
And if we get to a super bowl, it will be "we haven't won a super bowl in x years"
    ...
And if we win a super bowl, it will be "yea, but it was with Bill Cowher's team"

if we would go 7-9 and sneak into the playoffs and win it all that would be success to me over going 14-2 and not winning the sb lol

    Agreed with that statement. Speaking of money, considering Antonio Brown and his contract;

I've said since the beginning of the season the Steelers would win the SB this year and bet them accordingly.
Not changing that prediction now. It won't be easy, never is.

Please tell me how hard it is to win a championship..I'm still learning! Seriously, the subject was the meaning of success in football for me.

The SB is the ultimate goal, ultimate level of success but to say anything short of that makes the season a failure, I can't agree with that.

The number of injuries and to key players was significant, much more significant that the usual rhetoric of "everyone has injuries".

For that reason, I'll file making the playoffs a success. I've had my problems with this season for sure, beating a little different drum then some of you are used to seeing from me, things I clearly think need fixing to be the best they can be but Im happy they made the playoffs.

They failed to handle their business against the Ravens but took care of the Browns when they had too. Jets didnt do what they needed to get in, we did.

If you're in, you're in. Considering how many teams are sitting at home, participating the playoffs is a success. Sometimes you have to get lucky. In 2011 the Giants were one easy completion in the flat from Romo to Austin away from missing the playoffs. Bad throw, they get in and win the Super Bowl.

I said before week 17 that I felt at the time that 10-6 was a successful season even if the Bills lost and we missed the playoffs.

10 wins while having to deal with:

The toughest schedule (based on 2014 records I know, but we still played half our games against this year's playoff teams)
Major injuries to Pouncey, Beachum, Bell, and Ben
    The Vick experiment
Four different kickers and their kicking woes

...is pretty impressive and a success in my book.

Before the season I would've guessed a division title, a playoff appearance but a WC or divisional loss given that the defense is rebuilding and still a Work In Progress.

And that was before the Ben and Bell injuries.

So at this point they're just about where I thought that they'd be sans the division title. Given all that they've overcome, Yes this is a successful season even with a loss to the Bungholes on Saturday.

NEXT YEAR my friends is their year. ;)

I expected them to make the playoffs, but that doesn't make it less of a success. I want more than just an appearance, but it just doesn't make any sense to say making the playoffs isn't a successful season. Would it have been more successful if we won the division? Yeah... But still successful in my book.We haven't won a playoff game in a while, so we need to get one to show some progress tho.

I would say it's somewhat a success making the playoffs, when Bell, Beachum, Pouncey is on IR.

Add to the injuries and lost playing time, a very difficult schedule that was causing many to predict us to be less than 10-6 even at full strength all year.

I'm pleased with playoffs, I'll hate losing to the Bengals, of course.

Everyone has a different opinion of success for this team. We truly are a spoiled bunch.

I would love to win the Super Bowl since that's the ultimate goal. I would also absolutely love to win the Super Bowl and then listen to Bengals fans gloat how they won the division, as they have done previously. Morons. :lolol:

No matter what happens, I'm very proud of the Steelers this year. They have overcome a lot of injuries and adversity. I'm very much looking forward to Saturday night. GO STEELERS! :towel:

Another thing to note they had the toughest schedule going into the season and they have played 6 out of the 12 playoff teams. I didn't check but that has to be the highest. 7 games if you consider playing the Bengals twice. Still looking at the games they should have won and didn't makes me mad.

No. We are the Pittsburgh Steelers, not the Houston Texans. Just making the playoffs is not a success and a non-losing season is a season in which we WIN THE SUPER BOWL!!! :smiley1::herewego!:
