I have a hard time believing Troy didn't offer more to the team than S. Thomas, W. Allen and Robert Golden.
I know he had lost a step, but come on.

I wouldn't call him 'bad' per se. He was still a phenom. But - having lost a step and trying to do the things he was used to doing was costing us big plays. If he had settled into a traditional S role, I think he could have stuck around a few more seasons - and to me, that's just sad that we lost that type of talent.

I read that and was trying to think who you were referring to. Figured it must be our 4th string running back or someone.

Troy pulled a manning. Stayed one year late. Thought he looked pretty bad his final year

Yeah I was like "Huh?" LOL! I loved Troy but he was just a little too "dangerous" I guess because he had lost a bit of that freakish athleticism that allowed him to be the player he was. Also he just wasn't worth the money to be somewhat of a liability. I think other teams must have felt the same about him because, as far as I know, he never got an offer from another team. Not even AZ and they even want to poach our waterboys. LOL!

    Not going to argue that.
Just feel like there was no way he couldn't keep a roster spot over a guy like S. Thomas.

Just read on ESPN that the reason S. Thomas hasn't been playing is that if he plays more than 10% of the snaps this season they'll have to give up the regret of trading up in the draft to get him.
Either that or he's just bad?

Yes the title confuses the hell outta me.
Anyway, Troy definitely should've been given one more year. While he wasn't as good as he used to be (which tends to happen as these guys get older.) As Glenn pointed out, he would've been better than these other guys. He still made the "Troy" splash plays every once in a while too. He had sure hands too.
We tend to get rid of the guys we can count on for guys who are big question marks. When we got rid of Larry Foote (the second time) he lead the team in that season. I thought we coulda kept Keisel around for 1 more year too, in a limited role. It would've been great to have a guy like Troy around the other guys too.

Definitely better. While he lost a step (or two), he was doing things he shouldn't have had to be doing.

Maybe not Golden Glenn but he only gets spot duty. Always around the ball when he is in. Really believe Troy was done though.

Trot is fitting because thats the only thing Troy would be doing on the field, trotting, certainly wouldnt be running!

Kidding, I love Troy and I doubt hed be worse than what we have, especially if Butler used him in a more traditional sense.

They don't miss Troy he has been done for a few years, they didn't want to pay him that contract he had and he was a liability in coverage.

Troy lost his burst... you could see it.

All it would have helped might have been in that first game against the Pats. maybe?

I have always thought that the torn calf Troy suffered on that pick 6 against Cinci was the beginning of the end. He was never the same after that.
