I was listening to Joe Bindle today and he mentioned the Lemieux statue they're putting in front of Consol in March. Then he asked why the Steelers don't have a Chuck Noll statue. I'm 32 so I wasn't around when he was winning superbowls. But I gotta agree with Joe. There should be a statue of him somewhere. What do yins think?

i've been to every professional sports stadium/arena in the united states. i love the sculptures. a lot of stadiums have them. outside the arena in salt lake there are sculptures of stockton throwing a bounce pass to malone. outside minit maid park in houston they have biggio throwing to bagwell. outside detroit's comerica park, behind the outfield, there are statues of their hall of famers. in norman, oklahoma, all of the sooners' heisman winners. and on and on and on . . . i love the chief statue, and the coca-cola great hall is pretty good, but i think it would look epic to have the entire front walkway adorned with full-sized statues of all of our halloffamers. from left-to-right based on year of induction in some of their most well-known poses. franco catching the ball off the turf (similar to the pittsburgh airport), swann making his catch in X, stallworth making his grab in XIV, bradshaw in a runnin motion with both fingers (#1 pointed to the sky) or his arm cocked back ready to launch a bomb, perhaps noll posing with four super bowl trophies, blount in his 'ready' position, mean joe in a three-point stance, lambert in his 'ready' position with toothless mouth agape, ham in his traditional standing 'ready' position . . . and so on . . . i think it'd be cool as hell.

This was a great man -- a man of vision and guts. And there isn't even a plaque -- or a signpost -- or a statue of him in that town!

I guess you don't get the reference.

Though I must say I am impressed, we're four posts in and no-one has spelled his name Knoll yet.

I didn't ask WHO gave the order, because it had nothing to do with business.

AKA "The Dear Chaz" as Myron used to call him. There should also be at least a picture with a bio of Myron there too.

As a young Marine I hated the sound of Myron's voice, I heard him when I was on leave or long weekends from Camp LeJeune. One Sunday I was in my 1963 Dodge at Camp LeJeune this was in the 1970's. Sitting in a parking lot drinking beer and trying to get a pittsburgh station (for oldies think it may have been KQV) I heard Myrons voice. I thought , man why him. Then it hit me, I found gold!! This is the Stillers on radidigino. That is radio to you younguns. The parking lot was along the New River. Every Sunday I would get my 6 pack and find that parking spot (couldn't get that steeltown station anywhere else on LeJeune it is almost 600 miles ) and listen to my Stillers. That is when I found Myron as the man. If you wanted to hear Stiller football.
My favorite call I ever heard him call was as follows; close as I can remember.
Franco steps through the line, he broke it, flag down! That Wolfley is holding. THAT g*^ d)#$ wOLFLEY IS HOLDING. DAMN THING'S COMING BACK! Then they went to break. When they came back on one of the guys said Hey we're back. Myron stepped out for a hot dog, he'll be right back.

I'll go with the obvious answer...................MORE LOMBARDI TROPHIES!

but in all seriousness they should really recognize Coach Noll more but he probably is to humble to want that.

Remember the day they unveiled Willie Stargell's statue he passed away just hours before? RIP Pops!

To take this topic a little further, if there were to be a Mt. Rushmore of Steelers, who would be on there? I wasn't around in the 70s so it would be hard for me to pick all guys from before my time, but it seems as though that would be the most fitting. Something along the lines of:

The Chief, Noll, Mean Joe, Bradshaw???

What do you guys think? If Coach Tomlin stays around long enough it would be cool to envision one of The Chief, Noll, Cowher, Tomlin

You would have to have Jack on there. Him with his toothless mouth open and spittle running down the side of his mouth. When I think Steelers this is the vision that comes to mind.

I think Statues are bad luck. Just look at the Pirates they have tons of them at PNC park, and they haven't had a winning season in 19 years.

Exactly. It amazing how often over the years, that posters on many boards, would sing the praises of the Steelers Coach-of-the-70s, offer up how he was the greatest coach that ever coached any sport, anywhere in the history of the world and still spell his name Knoll.
