On the XBox Live thread, TTF and I started to take a tangent on Westerns. I love a good Western. Always have. Pity they don't make them very often anymore.

So who else is with us? Let's see your favorite Westerns, or actors, lines, scenes, whatever. :)

My favorite Western movies are virtually anything with Clint Eastwood in it. "Unforgiven" being my all-time favorite, followed closely by "The Outlaw Josey Wales," "High Plains Drifter," "Pale Rider," and the Dollars Trilogy.

But I like most Westerns. John Wayne's movies, while a little hokey by today's standards are a lot of fun. And even the more modern (heh, modern... like going on 20 years old now) movies like "Tombstone" are very good. I even love the TV show "Deadwood." Sadly, I missed the boat (train?) on "Hell on Wheels." I'm hoping they re-air it in order some day soon.

    A few favorite scenes:

[youtube:3c6o0j6j]co5xVHsMRV0[/youtube:3c6o0j6j] Ike Clanton is the first time I noticed Stephen Lang, more recently of Avatar and Terra Nova fame.

    And of course...

Just to get the ball rolling. :D

    Great thread! :rawk:
I love a lot of your list, and agree that almost anything Clint Eastwood was excellent.
God, Tombstone was 20 years ago? :eek!: Definitely a "modern" classic. Here's a great scene (tho, there are many)-
Warning- these clips may contain language and violence etc

Here's a young Chuck Bronson in another great Western- Once Upon A Time In The West.

While this one isn't one of my favorites, or one of the best films ever, it does have a lot of good points and a great final shootout.
Look for a not so gentlemanly Dumbledore-

Another decent "modern western" 3:10 to Yuma (a remake), had a lot of good qualities. Here's a good scene from it-

Clint in 'A Fistful of Dollars', the 1st of the Dollars trilogy. All of which are great.

    19 to be exact. 1993. I know. I feel old too. :(

I've never seen 3:10 to Yuma (either version). I'm not sure why. Going to have to give that a look soon.

Now, "Westerns" like Young Guns and The Quick and the Dead aren't quite as good as the classics... but they're a lot of fun too. :)

Hell, I even like "Modern Day" Westerns (in a way) like "Justified."

Speaking of which, season premier is recording. :)

My grandfather was always watching westerns on TV, and that's why I think I love them. Tombstone is one of my favorites. I also liked the remake of True Grit, just about anything w/ Eastwood. I have cable, and we subscribe to some of the premium channels. There's an Encore network that shows all westerns, both movies and series. As far as series go, I love me some Bat Masterson...kinda cheesy, but I just love it.
