Any one else just see a banner at the bottom of the tv screen stating that the Steelers waived Batch and Leftwich? I've been trying to search this on others sites but no luck. Thought some of you might have better knowledge.

I don't see that happening. Dixon is the one who is probably going to be out.

I figure we let Dixon go also. But no I didn't see that on the screen.

They are free agents...there'd be no reason to "waive" them anyways.

Maybe the guy who types in the stuff for the bottom of the screen saw Batch and Leftwich go by on a tandem bicycle, and waved at them.

Where did you see it on the four letter network?

Please refer to the network as "The Mothership", or, "Creator of realities that never were true".

I hope we keep leftwhich, if he was healthy this year maybe we're in the super bowl. After Batch played abysmally in the end of the first half vs CLE, Tomlin keeps in ben, re-aggravates the ankle etc.

Batch was only in for like, 3 plays. I think he threw like one incompletion. I'd hardly call his performance abysmal.

Actually, I think it was the players who did the waving. They were passing in their big gas-guzzling SUVs and they waved.

It was bad enough that the coaching staff had zero confidence in having him finish the game. Instead, the coaches felt like a hobbled and broken BR at 50% would be more effective than CB at 100%. So maybe not enough data to call his performance abysmal, but certainly enough to say that the coaching staff had no confidence in Charlie.

I posted the original and since then have searched a number of url sites and what I think they meant is that these guys are free agents not waived.

I feel that way too, and I would regardless of who our backup was. Don't we all?

4th and goal from the 9 yard line to win the Super Bowl, who do you want taking the snap and throwing the ball? Ben on a broken leg who can't even take one step, or a healthy Batch/Leftwich, who can run all they want? Ben, hands down. If the chips were down and we needed a win to survive, I'd be hard pressed to think of a single backup QB in the league I would take over a hobbled Roethlisberger. Yes, he didn't do so well when hobbled this year, but in the past he's been great, even when hurt.

Maybe Charlie and Byron were waving at BA as he did his cardboard box shuffle out of the Steelers facility...

my point was that the cleveland, san fran and cleveland games were not exactly the super bowl. yes we had to stay competitive in order to have a shot at the division but I feel like if byron was available we would've gone with him over a 50% ben

Maybe. I guess we'll never know. Charlie did play very well against St. Louis, but maybe that doesn't count because it's St. Louis. My point was that the coaches considered every game a "must win" game, and rightfully so. If we'd beaten SF, we'd have a sweet sweet bye to rest and get healthy, and then play at home. Our season might not be over even now. If it's must win, you gotta play Ben.
