If it were up to you, would you shake up the secondary this week?

Golden for Allen or at least split the playing time a little more.
    Dorian Grant in for Blake.

Grant? Interesting. Why him and not Boykin?

Is grant still on ps? I do a complete overhaul. It's bad when mitchell is best player in ur secondary.
He is playing better so I can tolerate him.
    Cockrell is decent.
I start him and gay with grant if available in slot.
I really don't think it's players so much as these crappy zones we play. I didn't see much man coverage today
I would have at least tried it

Just based on the fact that a veteran player that we traded for can't for whatever reason beat out Blake.

I think Allen is showing his age, he is going to get picked on in the games to come by OC's from other teams.

I picked 'other.' Who do we have to replace the lousy players with? I know some look at Boykin as a savior but there's a reason he was benched last season and the Eagles were willing to dump him.

    I can't really say I'd trust Chip's judgement though.

Yea but do you really think he (Boykin) can possibly be worse than Blake. I would like to see it.

Just about all our DBs are worthless. How you gonna bench a worthless guy & replace him with another worthless guy?? The major problem is we don't compete at the line of scrimmage. You play 10 to 15 yards back, even in the redzone, and your tackling is pathetic, that always equal disaster. Everyone know that if you don't slow down the slot, your vulnerable to the quick seam route. And we play like our deep safety don't exist, he's never in position to make plays...

Gay and Boykin are our best corners, even though they are better in the slot. They need to start with Cockrell in the slot. Gay started and lined up against opponensts best WRs last year and was much more effective than what we have this year. Blake should go to the bench. Golden should replace Allen, but honestly the lack of depth at the S positions is literally insane. Golden is a special teams player and Allen was cut by the team a few years back.

We should also see what Grant and whoever the other CBs are behind him, can do with some playing time.

Its time to try somebody new, lets at least give them a chance.
Boykin and Grant and Golden should all be given a chance to show what
they got. Then when the season is over and the house cleaning begins you will know
    where to start.

I picked bench both Blake and Allen, however I would use Cockrell as the starter in place of Blake and use Boykin in the slot as a nickel. Allen has been very, very bad since his return. I think our best pass defense this season came when Golden subbed for Allen.

My question is how can the guys behind Allen and Blake be any worse? When you have guys running free on multiple plays it is terrible. They continually picked on Allen and especially Blake. Gay was really a non-factor because they didn't even look at his side of the field. At this point I would play Golden, Grant and Boykin. Give someone else a chance to step up and make plays.

Not sure if the story is accurate, but the say he was a strong tackler in 2014?

Interesting article. A couple of observations: first, the article references the fact that Boykin is the best slot CB in football according to the "stats" (I remember reading that PFF had him rated as such when we traded for him). He was able to lead the team in interceptions in 2013 with a total of 6 even though he played half the time of the other CBs. The article also talks about him becoming a more complete CB in 2014 even though his INT number declined. The guy is a PLAYMAKER. Chip Kelly obviously likes tall CBs and he has drafted and signed CBs of 6 ft or taller since he's been there. Boykin was "only" 5'10" which happens to be a tall CB for us. Bottom line, NOTHING IN THIS ARTICLE CONVINCED ME THAT BOYKIN SHOULD NOT BE STARTING FOR THE STEELERS, IN FACT, IT REINFORCED MY BELIEF THAT HE SHOULD BE STARTING. The fact that he didn't start in Philly because the genius coach they have wanted taller CBs doesn't change my mind.

I would describe his tackling this way:

"Look ma, no hands (or arms)!"

Since we have been burned for like 1200 yards in 3 weeks. If there isn't a change, Tomlin needs hit upside the head.
