Ok, I'm gonna go ahead and start by saying I was excited for his drafting, and I have lost that over time. I personally thought he would be a steal at 17, but he's done little, and was hurt for 11 weeks. Yesterday he seemed to be in on numerous plays, and he was opposite J Thomas holding his own. He even got some air time from the announcers. Hopefully his play continues as Harrison will need some rest for the stretch run, but yesterday gives us hope.

Anthony Chickillo had a good number of snaps yesterday. I wonder if he improves over time that Jarvis's time with the steelers might be history. Chickillo must be doing some good to be playing as much as he has.

We have been rotating our pass rushers quite a bit. Harrison was hurt, so I would assume that Chickillo goes back to the inactive list as soon as Deebo is healthy. I'll give him credit tho, chick has done pretty well on ST's when he has played.

I think that JJ has had himself a solid season so far. He just isn't a guy who is going to have double digit sacks. He works hard, has gotten a lot stronger, better as a rusher, and he holds up well against the run...

He's a starting quality player, he's just never going to be a superstar.

Jarvis bull rushed Joe Thomas on one play and got a sack, we need more of that.

I didn't think he had a shot at getting to the QB against Thomas. He played pretty well, and we need more of that going forward.

Yeah, that's the second time he's bullrushed Thomas so that Thomas tripped over the LG and fell flat on his back, collapsing the pocket. I remember he did it once before, I think the last game of his rookie season.

I wonder if it's a coincidence, or what. Maybe that happens to Joe Thomas a lot? I don't follow him against other teams. Anyway, I'm glad Jarvis got a sack out of it this time. Too bad he had to share with Moats. :smiley1:

still not impressed, James Harrison is out and still he only plays half the snaps like an old man.. He should have played every single snap in that game except 4 or 5 just like James Harrison did in his youth... NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL!!!!!

YOU have a 1st rounder and are impressed with one play for a Whole game.... hahahaha.. he is joke of a 1st rounder....

It was JJ best performance thus far. Was nice to see Chickillo get some snaps, he didn't look too bad rushing the passer at times.

Jarvis was a part of, not a standout. Decent effort. Chickillo has promise. Glad he got some snaps.

Don't forget to apply those rules to Dupree and Moats.

I think JJ played well. Again he plays much better when there is at least 3 more guys on the LOS with him. I still say he is more suited for a 4-3 or a 5-2 , if the Steelers are going to run more multiple fronts in the future then JJ will be just fine...

That's how the Team should decide his future..If committed to multiple commit to Jones, If not then don't sign him . To me it is as simple as that...

JJ had 2 tackles and a half sack in the clown game, he has 11 tackles 11 assists and 2 sacks in 9 games on the year, that doesn't sound to me like a solid season for a 1st round draft pick in his 3rd year in the pros.....

He's very disappointing for a 1st rounder in his 3rd year. Perhaps I had gotten to used to seeing a lot of production from that position, but he is definitely below what I would expect. He would make a great backup, but we need a superstar there.

How many snaps? Where does that put him with Moats? Also how does he stack up vs Clowny?

Trying to compare him to other players like Clowney who cant stay off IR long enough to play is just trying to make excuses for him, Jones is on a 4 year rookie mini salary cap contract and I have a hard time thinking the steelers will resign him after next season or even taking the 5th year option unless he makes an amazing turn around, he is taking up a roster spot keeping a productive player off our roster, there is no excuses in the NFL, you either produce or move on, in Jones case in my estimation, it's time to move him on.........

Sean Spence comes to mind? I brought up Clowney because you are assigning a value of x for Jones based on being the 17th pick in the first round and saying his production should then equal y. While you have Clowney who was the 1st overall pick in the first round, at the same position and supposedly a sure thing superstar higher talent and ceiling than Jones but who's production is on par or less than Jones with a superstar playing opposite him. So from a numbers standpoint what are the variables here and what weight do we give them.

The fact that a complimentary thread was started when JJ has a marginally good game against a marginally poor team, speaks volumes to how marginal JJ has been.

Don't know why I went with the marginal theme, but I didn't want some to get all pissy by throwing the bust word out again.

It's not the first or last thread for this marginal player. Bust? For a 1st rounder. The Steelers won't throw big money at Jones. Dupree in his short time has impressed me more then Jones ever has. So tell me why does Harrison gets more snaps again? 2 tackles and a half a sack. Now that's domination...

Once again how about some perspective. How did Tuitt do? How did Moats? Dupree, Chick, Shazier what are your expectations for them how did they do
