    A) I think was a result of playing with Troy since that hasn't been an issue this year. B) I've never seen him shy away from a hit but maybe he was scared of C? C) I agree but a lot of his penalties are stupid.. Didn't he get one two weeks ago for taunting? Like every player in the league doesn't talk **** after a play.

All I know is he's the only that got mad after the Bengals injured Bell and tagged Jones. He was catching bodies in the Raiders game as well. Mitchell is Steelers football. He's what this team has been missing.

To me it's like a chicken or the egg argument. The way we play our CBs off the ball 99% of the time leads to easy pitch and catch not allowing our pass rush to get home. When the QB is given such a easy option to get rid of the ball, that's exactly what he does. I know there have been more than I wanna see miscommunications that lead to easy TDs but I wonder why we don't mix in more bump and runs and do a better job disguising our coverages. I think all our OLBs are really struggling in their one on one match ups....that's really what football boils down to beating the man in front of you ans we aren't doing nearly enough of that.
Like you said other teams have adjusted to what we were successful with earlier ,the question is what adjustments can or do we make.

He certainly is not afraid of contact, I think he has made improvement
whether from being healthy or what. I also have reservations about
him. I need to watch him a little closer. His coverage skills are not as good
as Ryan Clark. But hey maybe he is working on them. I still don't like the angles he
    takes????

He hits like a mack truck, he has 43 tackles 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and two picks in 9 games, this guy is ballen out, he's having a probowl year so far and should be in it at the end of the season...And at 6-1 221 he is a big free safety.............

Always seemed to me Clark reserved his big hits for the right moment in the big games. Probably extended his career a little.
Mitchell is killing everything, i love that-

A cop comes up to me at my 20yr class reunion and asks me if i intentionally broke his leg and ended his football days. I had no idea what he was talking about but could tell this had been on his mind. I was proud when i told him, "I hit everybody as hard as i could". That's how I believe the game is played. I like me some Mitchell

There were actually several players there, all of them Steelers. He was way out of bounds, not just an accidental step on the line he might not have noticed. He should have not recovered the ball at all, and looked to help in another way. A lot of people will think that's hindsight, but anyone with a football IQ should know you don't grab the ball while out of bounds like that unless you are breaking up a pass or something.

Add in the taunting penalties, and the guy doesn't play with his head. He just doesn't.

Still, he's definitely one of the most improved players we've seen in a long time, and we need it with the way our CBs are playing.

Still not sure of the physics behind his hit/stop on Latavius Murray. Murray is bigger (6-3/230) and was moving forward while Mitchell was almost stopped and basically just body slammed Murray straight up. Murray was in the Twilight Zone instantly, dropped the ball and Mitchell even tried to ease him down to the turf. Of all of Mitchell's torpedo hits on Sunday, this one didn't appear at first to be very hard but the net effect was unbelievable. This level and style of hitting knocked a much younger Ryan Shazier out for several games for which he still hasn't fully recovered. Hope Mitchell can keep it up without harm to himself. While the tackling overall it still piss poor - when we do make hits they appear much more solid and effective turnover-wise than under the beloved previous DC.

Mitchell looks and plays a lot like Clark.. Mitchell is a little bigger and faster than Clark, but not as intelligent. They both have the same fearless style of play, and it has gotten them both into trouble at times. If you recall, Clark had a rough first season here too. He was treated as a stopgap until Anthony Smith developed. Obviously, we all know how that played out.
