Make no mistake. Dri was also a threat...to the Steelers. LOL. Just the fact that Jones might be able to discern when to keep it in and when to bring it out makes him an upgrade. I also read on the Steelers site that he is listed as a punt returner alongside AB.

Yeah Archer never could make up his mind . He would bring it out and then stop and wished he was back in the end zone. I don't mind if a guy gets stopped before he reaches the 20 as long as he does it in high gear . Archer looked like a guy who runs a 6.0 40 tip toeing so bad . I thought I was watching the Matrix........

Jones will be wearing number 15, in case people were wondering. He can't wear 12 since it's unofficially retired. I'm not sure if anyone has posted this or not.

When you compare the two, didn't Dri Archer have better numbers than Jacoby Jones?? I'm not understanding this deal, I must be missing something...

Is Jacoby wearing 13 today? I don't see 15 during pregame.

Well he did a decent job and should get better but I think he tried too hard today to break something instead of taking what they give you

He offered nothing today that Dri Archer didn't already show us. A dumb trade off that had very little upside. Maybe next game will be better but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Not 100% happy about him being a Steeler. I think the problem might not be the returner and may have more to do with the blocking? Nobody has done much in the return game including AB and we know what AB can do.

TTF.. Got a question .... His salary for next year was to be 3 mil .... Since he was cut and we picked him up are we on the hook for that if we keep him or will he be a UFA at seasons end?

Like I said before - the problem is with the return unit in part.

I think he brings a certain amount of veteran knowledge, and I much prefer having him back there returning punts than AB. But that's not going to translate into huge gains. At least not immediately.

I agree with you on both points, Thig. The blocking on returns is not good, and I really liked AB not returning punts. I don't like risking him in that role.

I think that has a lot to do with him being old and slow.

Bonehead move!!!! Jones offers nothing .... his past accomplishments mean nothing. In SD he was ineffective. Verses the raiders he looked slow, indecisive and lost.

The only positive is the statement cutting Archer sent...." Be productive or risk getting cut!!!" Is that worth half a million bucks?

Agreed. I think the blocking is the issue as well.

He hadn't been here long enough to be able to read his blockers . Dri had plenty of time and got no better.. Jones is a better return guy than him and he will get better with more work with the unit ...

But as Glenn pointed out, AB HAS been here long enough and he wasn't able to get anywhere either. Not saying Jacoby wont be better than he was against the Raiders, but our ST blocking is an issue.

Agree it is an issue . Returning kicks is a lot different than returning punts . Have to be a lot more precise and a lot more in tune on Kick Returns . Dri used to have some lanes and wouldn't take them. Brown and Jacoby are not familiar with where those lanes are going to be yet ....

Usually only one small crease will be created you have to know when and where to be able to exploit that....
