Or the team that cheats, gets caught and gets away with it...over and over again. That's the most deflating to me. It all just seems so fixed and fake anymore. And it's not very good football anymore. It's not hard to find something else to do on Sundays now days. It's sad, I used to watch every game I could but Roger ball has me down to just watching Steelers games when I can find them.

One thing that was "ruined" today was any shot of repeating as AFC North champs. A wildcard berth is a possibility but it's a shame that halfway through the season we have virtually no chance of winning the division and have to look at the rest of the year in terms of maybe being a wildcard team. When you lose games you should win because of poor coaching and below the line play I'm not sure you deserve anything better than maybe being a wildcard team. The fact we can't win the division barring a monumental collapse by the Bengals and an 8-0 finish by the Steelers has taken most of the air out of my sails this season.

Exactly. Today alone Bell, Forte, Steve Smith, and Reggie Bush all were lost for the season.

Forte got hurt?! I didn't know that. I hate to hear that. That dude is one of the most underrated players in the whole league!

Yeah, though now that I checked for updates I don't think it is determined yet that he will be out the rest of the year, but he did suffer a knee injury. More to come on that one.

Yep nothing left to do but win the whole dang shootin match. Nothing to lose so every play is the last 10 seconds of the Superbowl and you're down by 7. Win it all and leave nothing in doubt.

I totally disagree with the OP we can still pull out a wildcard,
The AFC stinks. Keep attacking on defense and we will be OK. I like this
team and its aggresssive defensive approach. Go Steelers.

While it will be a tough road, it definitely can happen. The year the Packers beat us in the Super Bowl they had 15 players on IR.

Season is far from over. Look at this way. We still stand for a wildcard spot. The AFC south is Terrible, Colts win it by default. AFC West Broncos got it wrapped up. San Diego is out, KC is playing better bet still has 5 loses. Oakland is a legit threat for a WC spot. The AFC East. Patriots got it wrapped up. So the Jets are ahead of us, but are now searching the streets for a QB with two hurt. The dolphins are playing better but also have 4 losses, plus still play the pats again.
So are season is far from over.
Get in and see what happens good chance we play the Bengals 3 times this season.

Need just to win the next game. Haven't been effected by a loss in a while, but the loss vs the bungles really got me down. This was a must win. Not just to challenge for the division but to keep momentum.
Now they are facing a brutal 8 game stretch without Bell. 9-7 isn't going to cut it. I see 8-8 again or 7-9.
Could be Tomlin's first losing season. I support Tomlin but last nights after the game press conference just unnerved me.
Defense is coming along with Butler at the helm which is a positive.
    Just a brutal loss...

Ben is back with enough time to get the offense back on track. We're in a better position than the other AFC wildcard clowns.

Absolutely. I know that we didn't get the W, but I thought we outplayed the Bengals. Ben was rusty. He will be better next week. Losing Bell is big but we have Williams and I think he will fill in adequately. The Raiders come to town next week. We dust ourselves off and get ready to play them.

I agree. It's getting harder to justify spending so much of my time watching. I watched the Steelers game yesterday at a Steelers bar. When it was over, I went straight back home.

For me, it's the officiating. Like someone else said, it's inconsistent. If the calls that are made aren't great, then fine. But make those calls consistently, and throw the flags on both teams.

How is it that there are more rules and regs for player safety, yet players are constantly injured? Look at how many QBs were down within the first 2-3 weeks of this season... Ben, Brees, Cutler and Romo (these are the ones I remember).

Anyway... I'm probably just extra bummed about the loss to the Bengals, at home. Steelers should have beaten both them and the Ravens... They should be 6-2 right now. Meh...

I have started to become a huge soccer fan. Forgive me. LOL. But what I like is that the sport has remained unchanged over decades (as has baseball, really); and I like that when the match starts there are NO commercial breaks!

But back to the point about rules: indeed, the NFL just keeps on monkeying with the sport. I don't even know what does or doesn't constitute a catch anymore. I don't think the refs do either. And my guess is that the "competition committee" will mess with something else this offseason...perhaps no more kickoffs. Maybe go with five downs instead of four to give us more games like the one between the Saints and Giants yesterday.

Season isnt over but assuming we do reach the playoffs without Bell, the odds of getting past NE for a SB trip have decreased drastically. Think we need to be firing on all cylinders to beat them.

Bell is that important to this teams success. 3 guys on this team that cant be lost, Ben, Bell and AB.

Yeah but the three guys are not a 'team'. They're a trio. The rest of the team needs to step up or sumpin'
