    i know I'm in a grump y mood, but:

Today's game is a perfect example of why I do not put Ben in the "Elite" status, and why no one should.

A home game. A rival that we need to beat. He played like crap. Landry, and as much as I hate him, Vick, could have played as well or better.

Don't make excuses, he played poorly when an "Elite" QB is in this position, in my opinion, they step up. Ben did not.

He is very good. He is not "Elite".

Not while he's playing at 50%. Give me a 100% Ben and I think he falls into that category.

Ben is injured. Anyone who watches football could see that he was hobbling around out there and his throws were sailing on him. If you want to use today's game to indite his whole career....well that's just asinine.

Ben played like crap for the most part today.
Where are you getting the 50% thing from?

Probably the fact that he was obviously playing on one leg today.

He gets paid way too much money to use injury as an excuse we needed to win this game and we made Andy Dalton look like the next coming of Montana

The first drive Ben looked great. Second drive he was playing in pain. After that he was basically playing on one leg. It's my own judgement but it looked like he was playing at about 50% and is largely to blame for the loss. Landry probably could have played better.

People keep forgetting before Ben got hurt in St. Louis the offense wasn't really lighten it up either

Ben's only good game was against the Niners and they have the worst defense in the league

We made Dalton look like Montana? Are you being purposefully obtuse, or did you not watch the game at all?

I don't know who is and isn't elite. What I do know is it's easier to break players into tiers.

Tier 1 has Brady and Rodgers. Nobody else fits into this tier.
Tier 2 would have Ben, Brees, Luck and maybe a few others.

Ben is one of the best QB's in the league when he's on his game, but he also seems to have the ability to play like one of the worst. There's too many excuses for him at times. Injuries, playcalling, poor Oline play, etc. The reality is he needs to play better at times. Thankfully when he's on, he's lights out. His problem is his decision making. At times his choices are beyond stupid, and it seems like Tomlin doesn't try to reign him in. Ben gets greedy and he needs someone to reel him back in, but we don't seem to have that coach. I believe if Ben had a guy like Belichek, he would be in that top tier. The physical skills are all there.

Ok, I thought that it was stated somewhere that he was only 50% today, which would have been a questionable decision to start him.

Anytime Ben is suffering from an injury, it's always questionable to start him. Looking back, anytime he's had a lower body injury, he has played absolutely awful. I said a few weeks ago that a healthy Landry is better than an injured Ben. Some disagreed with me. I still think I might be right. For whatever reason, Ben cannot play with lower body injuries. He is completely ineffective.

He didn't seem to be stepping into his throws very well and seemed a little scared when he was pressured.

Seems like he's going to "elite" his way all the way to Canton.

    Twol points:

If Ben was hurt and he could not play well, he should not have played.

Elite QBs don't throw the ball out of the end zone on the game winning play.

I don't know but you can't throw a pick on 2nd and 6, up 4 with 5 minutes to go and standing all alone

Yes. It just so happened that today he was the proverbial "one legged man" in a butt kicking contest.

Ben most definitely is the franchise QB here, but I feel he has lost his mojo..... First half of his career he was king of last minute drives... Past couple years he has been on he short end more often than not.

How was Ben playing before he missed a month with a knee injury? Thats right.

We all knew there was a chance he'd look like this today, add to it that idiotic game plan and this is what you get.

Whatever label you want to put on it, he's the 3rd best QB in the league and thats pretty damn good. No shame in being behind Rodgers and Brady.

We got a glimpse of life without him, you all looking forward to that? He had a bad game, it happens.

Look at Ben last year and the beginning of this year. Ben is a top 5 QB in this league and I believe on his way to the HoF. With the D the way it's playing, I really don't think Ben leading us to 11-5 is out of the question.

Yup. Pretty hard to use this game as an indictment on his career.

I really do not understand the need to say he's elite or not elite.

That's the point. Who cares whether he's "elite" or not. The goal is to win games and, for players, to wind up in the HOF.

Which is a given for Ben, if he pulls off 1 more SB, he'll be first ballot.
