    http://steelcityblitz.com/2015/10/31/boykin-getting-splinters-due-to-spat-with-tomlin/

Here it says there is an issue between these two that is keeping Boykin off the field.

    http://www.steelersdepot.com/2015/1...hy-he-isnt-playing-more-i-dont-know-honestly/

Here's another article on the situation. Boykin says he wants to play, he can't walk around angry and is in constant communication with the coaches. It also says Tomlin and Butler have no plans on replacing Blake and only an injury will get Boykin on the field.

Note: Vick struggled mightily and only after he was innjuryed did Tomlin bring Landry in, after the game he said he had no plans on benching Vick for Landry during the game, it only happened due to his injury.

Is Tomlin being stubborn with Boykin? Is pride getting in the way?

The author of that fist article cracks me up everytime he mentions 'sources'. Could be true that Tomlin put him in the doghouse because he voiced his displeasure about the lack of playing time, but it's anyone's guess.

I heard some of the beat writers said Boykin doesn't like to tackle from what they have seen in practice. Who knows what's going on with him, with the injuries to Blake and Gay I think Boykin will see more playing time.

That first article is garbage, nothing more than clickbait. Not a quote to be found and the always solid "source with knowledge".

I wouldn't call it garbage, I would however take it with a grain of salt, Anytime sources aren't named or if the writer doesn't have access like Lolley or Dulac or others you have to be careful in what you believe.

Having said that I've always felt the "Beat" writers hold back, just like I would if I was one, also something is wrong for Boykin not to be playing. PFF had him ranked as the NFL's #2 ranked slot corner and we gave up a potential 4th rd pick for him.

As TTF noted, we may never know why he isn't playing, but we all know he should be playing more than he is.

I read on Steelers Depot from a commenter that he had heard that Boykin had an attitude problem. Then other commenters called him out on it saying that he had no credible evidence for that. So I have no clue if it's true or not. I DO think it's lame to get a guy that has shown some good for another team and give up a pick for him and then bench him. I'm sure Tomlin has some reason for it but it's still dang annoying. I bet Cortez has more snaps this year than Boykin.

I wonder if that "source with knowledge" is also the same guy that had the "knowledge" about the "$100 budget" and "duct tape" for the weight room? LOL!

That has to say more about Boykin than it does Allen. I read an article the other day on NFL.COM where Timmons was talking about how Tomlin is a great motivator but if people won't do things his way he will just flat out not put up with it.

I think Boykin would have to have 70 snaps on defense from here on out in order for the trade to cost us a 4th rd pick. Just sayin

Yeah. He's a really good dude. He used to be around quite a bit but he took a job writing for a site. I can't remember which one though. That name sounded familiar to me but I'm not sure if that was it. I just use this one, Steelers.com, and Steelers Depot. In that order.

It wouldn't shock me if there was some grain of truth in there about this situation. I bet it happens a whole lot more around the league than you will think...

I know someone with "an inside source" about the Ravens team post super bowl victory, and why they let so many defensive players go in FA. Supposedly Harbaugh called a contact practice right before the big game and some defensive players refused to practice because they didn't want to hit before the game. The practice went on without them, they won the game, then proceeded to not even attempt to re-sign Cary Williams, Dannell Ellerbe, Ed Reed, and Joe Kruger. All because Harbaugh wanted nothing to do with them after they undermined his authority.

Not that I truly believe all that or not. I figured I'd share the story anyways... But I bet stuff like this happens behind the scenes all the time.

I see him ask a question now and then in those weekly chats the beat writers do. And yes, he writes for the same site as steelerdad. At least he used to anyway.

I said this in a post yesterday. Mike won't do the right thing unless he can disguise under the injury tent... Helps save face I guess, but if we all see it, then what's he saving?

I get so tired of Tomlin being forced to play the right guy. His ego gets in the way and him in trouble. Play the best guy and then work all that other crap out later. Why trade for the guy and then bench him? Crazy!! This is why he gets outcoached

    The Boykin situation is interesting. During the 2013 season he had 6 INT's for for 136 yards and a TD but during his 2014 'contract season' he had 1 INT for 0 yards and there were games where he didn't see the field much. His comments last season sounded a lot like the ones from this season;

"I'm not going to lie and sit here and say that I'm OK with that. I want to play more. I want to be on the field. And I'm not playing as much because of the situation and that situation is frustrating to me."

Makes no sense except he has had a groin injury. Or was it one of those Cortez Allen ghost injuries? He needs to see the field.
