Back-up QB

Why have we not signed a scrub off the streets?!!? Vick is out, Ben is likely out. Who is gonna back up landry when he gets whacked? Something going on.......

 

Probably means Big Ben is going to play.

 

Well if no signing then it must mean Ben is close . If Ben is that close they are probably going to start him .....

 

Even if he does play, the game plan won't change.

Lot's of Bell followed by screens and quick passes.

I don't want him playing either, but it's up to coach T

 

QB Order for the Steelers this week.

1) Landry Jones

2) Big Ben

3) Heath Miller

4) Silverback

5) Drawing straws for the rest of the team excluding Vick.

 

Didn't Brown play QB in high school?

 

I read somewhere that he threw a TD pass to Vick in practice last week.

 

heck the way KC throws to wr's this game may just have all runs anyway. no need for any passing at all.

 

Without Jamal Charles, this shouldn't even be a game

i brought this topic up when ben got hurt. tyler murphy should have at least been getting prepped for an emergency situation. he would have had weeks of some prepping under his belt. maybe they have but he would need to be activated.

 

Bring Tyler Murphy up from the PS, cut Vick he's useless.

 

Maybe he can throw to himself? Although he might get in his own face if he's not targeted enough.

 

That would be a neat trick. AB catching his own passes.

 

Can one of our kickers throw?

More seriously, I like @mac daddyo 's suggestion of Mike Kafka, for a stop-gap no.3.

 

Tyler Murphy is taking snaps on the scout team. If Ben can't be a capable back up which I believe he will, Murphy will be activated to the roster.
Jones I believe will get the start. Ben will be the back up.

Here is a tidbit from the Post-Gazette about the QB situation from Vick:

“They looked great out there,” backup quarterback Mike Vick said. “They looked confident throwing the football around.”

From what I read in the post gazette. It looks like Tyler Murphy took a few snaps in practice yesterday.
I would expect.
1.) Landry to Start
2.) Ben to back up as emergency only.
3.) Tyler Murphy just in case they don't want Ben to go in.

 

Just run everything with LeVeon taking direct snaps..... if we had to move to another QB....not named Ben.... it's going to end up in LeVeon's hands anyway.

My guess is if Landry gets knocked out then we go to Tyler Murphy and run a lot of Wildcat and maybe some read option - with maybe a few plays from Haley's playbook. God help us if it comes to that. The only way Ben should be on the field with a uniform is if he can start. Otherwise, what's the point - if he can play he is your best QB so you start him. Any idea of Ben being the backup is nonsense.

 

I don't understand why they didn't cut Vick and sign someone of the street on Tuesday. Isn't Matt Flynn still available? I mean with Vick they basically cannot run their offense at all and he is injury-prone. Me thinks Tomlin still has a sweet spot for Vick and will hold onto through the end of the season.

 

I'm just happy that the Steelers are breaking old habits, and did not sign a scrub off the streets to start ahead of Landry. (i put Vick in that category, but I guess at the time there was hope he would be productive.)

 

4) Silverback

I'd LOVE to see the first guy that tries to sack him. That would be worth watching!
