A quote from Ben after practice today....

Mike Prisuta ‏@DVEMike 21m21 minutes ago

Ben didn't want to say too much after practice beyond, "I thought I threw the ball really well." He added that he's "relatively pain free."

I hope not. I say that to avoid injury. No need to risk the entire season against KC> They stink but the pass rushers are legit and QB killers. Absolutely no need to risk IMO.

Well, MT has already said Jones is the starter and had people wondering why he would announce that so soon and not keep something like that under wrap until later in the week. So maybe MT did that on purpose and is planning on starting Ben instead? If he's good to go why not start him? If he's iffy then I would definitely NOT start him this game and give him another week to continue healing.

It also doesn't seem like MT is showing signs of worry with regards to who's going to back up Jones, so maybe Jones still starts with the intentions of putting Ben as the backup in case Jones would go down?

I though I read somewhere that Tomlin said that Ben will not suit up to be a backup. He said that if he suits up, he will start.

If the doctor gives Ben the go-ahead to play, then so be it. I will support whomever is the starter whether it be Ben or Landry, but not Vick. As far as Vick is concerned, I want him gone ASAP, and the door can hit him hard on the way out.

As far as I know, we didn't sign another QB. Only healthy QB: Jones
Someone needs to be the backup. If Vick can't go, Ben is going to be active. Emergency QB? Starter? Anybody's guess!

I wouldn't want a "relatively pain free" QB up against that pass rush with a rookie LT if truth be told.

At this point there is no way Ben is not playing. If he is healthy enough to be a back up he is healthy enough to play. I think if Ben wasn't playing there would be another QB on the roster right now. They could being doing the old bait and switch with the chefs thinking the same thing and then call up Murphy late on Saturday.

I agree! Jones can do an admirable job and as long as Vick isn't dressed we have a chance. Don't risk injury to Ben.

He's not even running! I know that's not part of his game, but if you're not running how can you be ready to play football?

They did that already with him in San Francisco and we see what happened there. I realy have no desire to see a repeat of what we saw when Marino was playing out his last years....
