I Apologize

I changed my mind on Landry after he showed some improvement in the preseason, he's certainly a better option than Vick. They can use the whole playbook with Landry, Vick can't even make the simple throws.

 

myron give it a rest , you were way wrong about this kid and he HAS gotten better and he knows the offense pretty well. they can run the whole offense. no he won't be ben, nor is he even expected to be ben or take his place. at least this year or the next 4 years but we could do alot worse. #2 for example. say it myron. i was wrong. go ahead it won't hurt coming out. i was wrong. there now doesn't that feel better? as for the 7 yard pass to the receiver, well that's more yardage than vick had for most of the game. at least the pass went forward and to the right guy. did you say it yet? we're waiting. c'mon, you can do it. say it. c'mon. just bustin your chops my friend.

why not? 4 series, 4 scores. pretty impressive. the kid showed me he's made strides this preseason. perfect, no but he's got a cannon arm and like i've always said, he threw for nearly 17,000 yards in college. randy fichtner has been working with this kid and is making him better. why not a home grown guy out of our system to be the #2? it seems like a good way to go.

If Ben can't go Sunday, lets give Landry another shot
to see if he can play the whole game and find out a little more
during actual games if he is our #2 for the next 3 years?

 

Now my only fear is that with all these u-turns on Landry, next week he'll start and completely stink, and we'll have to have another thread where all of us who defended him have to apologise in turn.

 

Read he looked terrible in practice on Friday.. He certainly did a good job when called upon. He could end up being a somebody on this team. Who knew

Actually Myron, if it is a choice between Vick and Jones who would you pick? See the link I posted on Jones answers and knowing how to read defense'. It is clear he reads them better than Vick. as far as backing up Ben for the next 3-4 years. If he keeps up what he showed yesterday, I would take that.

You gotta admit that no one screamed get his azz out of town harder than me. If Jones don't come in yesterday, we're 3-3 today instead of 4-2

Mmmmm.....I thought Vick was a better option and he still might have been on the short week against the rats and he did help us win the Bolt game but after yesterday LJ is clearly the best option. Hope MT sees it too....

 

He must be one of those players who doesn't shine in practice, but during real game speed shines. Plus it probably didn't hurt that he knew the whole playbook. With the running game, play action should open up a lot for him, I would think.

 

Most definitely. It's quite obvious that they had zero confidence in Vick's ability to read the defense and his grasp of the playbook.

Landry, OMG! where has that been? He still had some stinky throws, but he made some great reads and really great throws as well. The throw to heath was exactly what the Cards were not ready for on defense. Now we get to see what happens when a defense actually prepares for him. Hopefully he can continue to be solid.

 

He's playing for rookie minimum, he cant afford custom made shirts and suits yet!!!!!! Besides, the last thing on his mind game day was doing a post game interview......

 

I think this is a huge part of it. The fact is, we have an offense loaded with weapons, and an OC who, when he's not being too clever, knows how to get the best out of them. Jones has just gone out and shown that.

Plus we had Bryant back. Who knew what an impact that would have.

 

I agree with you 100% Coastal. Id take Jones. I asked 3 games ago why isnt Jones starting. Why did we draft him with a 4th if we arent going to use him? Lets see what he has. He played very well. Lets see how he plays after a team has a week to prepare for him. Thats going to tell us a lot!

There will not be a STEELER fan rooting any harder for him than I will be. I so hope he makes me eat a ton of crow!

 

I'm with you all the way. I've always sorta wrongly "took it out on him" because of where he was drafted. Really he couldn't help that but I just thought it was horrible that we spent that high of a pick on him. Even though maybe we are gonna get a couple of wins out of it I still don't know that it was justifiable to draft him that high but I still hope he goes out there and kills it. I'm pulling for him big time and people have been telling me how stupid I am for saying that I hope Ben doesn't play but I really wanna see if we have anything in the kid. It's really a pretty fun time to be a Steelers fan when you get right down to it.

 

I dont want Ben on the field this week either. Give that knee another week. BIG game next week. Last thing we need is a set back with Ben. Lets give Jones a full game with a week to prepare and see how it shakes out.
