I realize what your saying and respect that however as a coach you have to look at the bigger picture and keep discipline in check.

Dont know about that, its hardly a distraction, Im sure his teammates have his back. As a coach, Id probably say, as long as you are ok paying the fines, knock yourself out.

I just think as a coach you enforce rules. Those are the rules .. Like it or not

There are about 100,000 issues more important to complain about than this one. I can almost guarantee that Tomlin told him, "If you don't mind paying the fines, go ahead and honor your Dad every Sunday." As he should. It's not discipline related. It's about a guy looking at an issue bigger than a game played by grown men and honoring someone he loved. I'd probably do the same thing.

It's his money. As long as he's OK spending that way, who cares? And as long as it doesn't have a negative impact on the team, I say more power to him. Let the man remember and honor his dad.

Fines go to charity so they are tax deductible.

The league is different than when L.C. insisted on the yellow shoes. Heyward can only do this for so long.

The only negative impact is to his wallet which is fat.

I can't believe they would fine him for that kind of tribute. He is honoring his father not acting the fool; very silly on the NFL's part

At what point (if any) does the NFL get to suspend him? At that point it affects the team, but until them it's his choice. It's not like he's grandstanding or showboating like "he hate me" - whoever the heck that otherwise forgettable player was....

I seem to remember a couple of players, (one a HOFer), daring Rozelle to do something by wearing headbands with messages. Their coach didn't make them stop. They went on to blow out the Pats in the SB.
I say, let Heyward wear the tribute.

Just curious, but last year when Devon Stills was honoring his daughter Leah by putting "Leah Strong" under his eyes did the NFL fine him?? Gonna have to do some research?
