Not sure about you guys, but I love the turnovers this year!

Seems like it's been a very long time since the defense has played like this.

Does anybody know the current number? Last years total? Current ranking?

I hope I'm not being biased because of all the last minute drive let downs over the last couple years, but I'd be willing to bet we shatter the TO total from last year.

I think it's really linked to the pressure the line is generating. Heyward and Tuitt are doing an excellent job of making the secondary look better.

EDIT: To answer the question - ESPN has us on 7 takeaways (3 ints and 4 ff), and 16 sacks.

Last year we had 11 ints and 14 ff, with 33 sacks.

    This.

What impresses me most is the pressure we're generating. And long overdue too.

Get enough pressure on the QB. Create enough penetration, and turnovers happen. The increase in QB pressure, and turnovers is the biggest reason why our defense is currently nowhere near the joke we expected them to be.

But they MUST keep it up. We don't have a shutdown defense. We have to be an opportunistic one.

Reminds me a little of the 1992 season when Cowher first took over. Sure, you could argue we had better talent on that team. But the QB pressure, and by extension, turnovers took a lot of teams by surprise.

Gay led the league in interceptions returned for a touchdown by intercepting 3 passes and returning all three for touchdowns last year. Surprise that didn't get him to the Pro Bowl.

Love how we're seeing the front 7 getting their hands up in passing lanes more this year. You have to do this against these quick throw teams.

I still think we must get pressure straight up the middle with some of these quick trigger qbs

Well obviously Gay is no Glen Edwards otherwise he'd already be in the NFL Active Player Hall of Fame. Anyone think that Ike makes that Blake INT against SD AND takes it to the house? I doubt that either would have happened with Ike and that most likely would be the difference in the outcome (as it actually was).

Lol. I still think the board should petition the Steelers organization to retire Glen Edwards' number.
