Please can anyone tell me why they started the time clock after the chargers kicked off. it was after their last field goal and it went out of the end zone. We didn't even touch the ball. If you look at the clock they ran it down 18 seconds. Glad we won but there should still have been more time on the clock. sorry for double post

 

What a freakin win!!! Props to 2 best players in nfl....bell carries the load until ben gets back and then brown.... U will get urs sir!!

 

Please tell me someone else noticed the time run off. It could have cost us the win!!

 

Very happy/thankfull / we won this game, but man We need Ben bck badly,, we won this bye the skin of our teeth.. the playcalling sucked all nite, vick sucked ( no surprise there) i saw a stat in the 4th qtr were we have only passed for 8 yrds in the 2nd half.... and if Bell woudnt have scored at the end.. i bet my last dollar that Tomlins house would have been litterd with trash, and what not

I agree on the play call - love that they went for it, and put the ball in the hands of the best guy for it, but also thought they should've designed one better suited to make use of the TO and FG should it have failed. But I don't want to sound like the glass-half-empty guy in the back of the bar.

 

I saw that too. An article has already been written on how the NFL would have had another officiating controversy on their hands if Bell did not make it across the goal line.

I saw a play much earlier in the game where the female ref blew the whistle too early IMO when we were running the ball and cost us yardage.

 

I noticed the latter as well. Bell was still pushing the pile easily for a whistle there.

What the F()@# did I just see?!?!?!? I can't believe my eyes.

 

You're right. The field goal came with 2:56. The Steelers ran 2 plays and the second play ended right at the 2 minute warning (which wouldn't have happened at 2:56). That's a serious issue and the very thing we need to be more engaged in on the sidelines (along with the time down at the goal line). We'll never be miracle makers with the clock (the 18 seconds probably wouldn't have mattered as we weren't rushing to get another play off), but somehow we got the win and it feels good.

EXACTLY! We got a treat tonight! 6 Homeruns by the Cubs and 2 by the Steelers!

 

I was just hoping that a failed play left one or two seconds on the clock to call a TO and kick the tying FG.

Yes - that clock snafu and the one mentioned above when the clock kept running on the rough hit penalty on Heath - but as it all played out was the best thing possible the way we've left too much time on the clock and lost games late. The refs and the clock helped us steal(er) this one tonight.

 

Game was cancelled - too damn hot for all the kahunas and wauhinis in SD. Also Ray Ray and Young's makeup was running. Can't wait to see when they reschedule this one. Maybe BB will be back for it.

 

Anyone else think that was SteelGirl84 dressed up as the sideline judge tonight? First fem ref in a regular season NFL game? She was the one who called Bell's walk off TD. Talk about having a girl in every port - including SD. Thanks SG84. You rock!!!!!
