I was watching Steelers Saturday Night & they were saying that DeAngelo will be used a lot more on Monday night- especially since the Chargers are so bad against the run. They were also talking about how patient and unselfish of a football player he is. They have around the same amount of yards per carry too. Do yinz think they will use him more?

I know Bell is our #1 RB but I think they need to use him more. I'd love to see them both on the field more often too.

I doubt Brandon Boykin will be as patient & he probably shouldn't be... It's going to be the Lance Moore situation all over again. Am I missing something here? What do yinz think?

I just don't get why we spend the time, energy, & money to sign these guys just for them to ride the pine.

Don't understand why Boykin is not used either. He was good in Philly and I've seen him make plays while on the field for us. I don't get it. There has to be something we're missing. Has he made Tomlin mad? Are we trying to retain a 4th round draft pick? What's going on?

Boykin should be on the field more often then he is presently. He won't stay here in the Burgh otherwise. As for D"Angelo playing more. I kinda disagree. We should continue to use Bell..

I cannot imagine they would be dumb enough to limit his snaps to preserve a 4th rd pick but hell who knows lol

It could be problems learning the system. Always hear about how complicated it is. Maybe cockrell picked it up quicker.

Dick Lebeau's defense was complicated but I thought I heard that Butler dumbed it down.

They aren't going to take carries away from Bell. If they can control the ball with first downs than DeAngelo should more carries. If they struggle to get first downs and sustain drives there simply won't be enough snaps. When Ben gets back they will throw more giving DeAngelo fewer opportunities.

I know they were both on the field for the very first offensive play against Ratbirds - announcers were falling all over themselves to blurt it out (obviously MT and TH must read this MB) but not sure what materialized after that. Bell is such a good receiver that I think they both could and should be on field together to mix it up and present decent options and wrinkles

Boykin and Williams arent playing because the people in front of them are playing well. Why change it up for the sake of changing it up?

In Bells case, its almost impossible to get Williams more snaps. You just dont take a weapon like Bell off the field unless he needs a breather.

I go back and forth between Blake and Boykin. The Steelers love using Gay as the nickel so maybe Blake is better on the outside then he is. Blake is a sound tackler and a big hitter, but his coverage is shaky. I don't see anyway someone could say take Cockrell off the field right now. He seems to improving every week. Yeah, he got beat for a TD last week, but hell you can't win every battle. When Allen comes back it will be interesting to see who gets a helmet between Allen and Boykin. If Allen gets a helmet, it says one thing to me and that is Boykin struggles o the outside. I would still go Boykin though because what happens if Gay goes down.

Tunch and Wolfe said Gay being in the Nickel is putting Boykin in direct competition with him, and no way Boykin plays over Gay.

Seems crazy we are not playing a guy we spent a pick on though?

Not sure what to think about Blake, every once in awhile he has a great play, but he is really missing a lot of tackles out there.

DeAngelo was doing great. Actually, he has 44 carries for 211 yards & 3 TD's. That's 4.8 ypc. On the other hand, Bell has had 41 carries for 191 yards and 2 TD's. That's 4.7 ypc. I'm not saying play Williams as much as you play Bell. We have this 2 headed monster in the backfield and we're only biting with one head. That's dumb. We could do so many things with those 2!
As far as Boykin, both he & Antwon have been in the league for 4 yrs. Boykin has 7 total INT's, 2 TD's, & 4 forced fumbles. Antwon has 1 total INT & 1 forced fumble. I think he'd definitely add something to our Defense. We have up a draft pick for him and now we're just letting all that talent & potential go to waste. I read where Brandon is talking to someone (coach??) about his lack of playing time. I don't blame him.
We signed him to PLAY here & that's what he should be doing!

RB's need to get in a rhythm and I dont care how well Williams did, Bell is better, I see no benefit from pulling him off the field.

And again, if the coaches like how people are playing, they generally don't like to change things up. Suppose they do and Boykin stinks the place up? Its not like they are holding Revis out.

I would still love to see more DW and Bell in the backfield at the same time. Pro set style.

Both are good capable backs, but Bell is our thoroughbred. Ride him to that triple crown.

Williams was great as the fill in for Bell while he was out but you cant take Bell off the field - as much as I would love to see DW get his chances - you just cant do it.

As for Boykin, I am not sold on Blake so I would love to see him get out there and see what he can do.

Agree. Despite how well he has played Williams at this stage of his career is a fringe starter. Bell is a legitimate top 5 RB in the entire league. He's a star.

I don't mind Williams seeing the ball now and again, but if Bell is healthy he should get at least 90 percent of the touches at RB.

It would just go along with most of the decisions they've made lately.

Yea- that's all I'm saying. Bell should get the ball like 95% of the time. If they'd put them both on the field, at the same time, they could use Williams as a decoy.
