I know it won't happen as there's not a chance in hell Decastro falls to us and I doubt we will trade up that far to get him, but this kid is considered one of the best guards to ever come out of college. He could single handedly improve our line, especially the running game. Our line has been our biggest weakness for many years now. With us trading up to get him, and with Gilbert and Pouncey, we would have the left side of our line fixed for 10 years.

I'm hoping they trade up to get him. That one pick will help the run and pass game. What player would have a bigger impact?

we should trade ahead of the bungles , they have two picks in rd 1 and if decastro is still there they will grab him
other guards i like are zietler glenn brandon washinghton and barret jones ,one of them should available in rd 2

This is the guy I want too. I don't think he's necessarily out of reach. I know he's "one of the top rated guards in years", but Iupati was the most touted guard I can remember and he went at #17. I know DeCastro could beat that, and the Cowboys are a possibility, but he could easily make it into the late teens where we can trade up to get him, and he could even slide beyond that. There's no way of knowing. Bulaga was supposed to be a top 10 lock, and he went in the mid 20s. There is SO much time between now and then, with so much rising and falling yet to happen.

Even if he doesn't fall, if a couple other guys shoot up the draft boards between now and then, he will fall by default.

i think kelemete could be had in the 3rd. adams, datko, allen, sanders. even konz the center from wisconsin. our o-line coach likes this type of guy to make guards out of.

I didn't see your thread, but he is worth 2 picks if needed....Keep in mind we still have the Combine ,Prodays, and private workouts as well as The games.....Players will start moving up the boards and usually that's the Talent Guys on O,OT'S,CB'S and such .....So he could get closer to us.....I am all for going down to 10 to get him if needed....

Trading up to 10 would cost too much in my opinion. We have other holes and can't sacrifice half a draft (I'm thinking it would take at least our first three picks to get there). Right now I think he's in the 14-18 range. But like you said, even if he does nothing to warrant a slide like a bad combine, it's probable other guys will start shooting up. QBs, WRs, CBs, OTs... That will drop him a few notches. If it does, and he slips into the late teens or early 20s, I would absolutely pull the trigger on trading up. It's very early, but I feel like this is a a high floor, high ceiling guy. All boom and no bust. Put him in between Gilbert and Pouncey and we are looking like a real offense. And we'd finally have someone that could pull again! Oh how I've missed those days... I'm drooling. I would happily forfeit a 3rd round pick to get that. But our 2nd, too? We desperately need a high-quality ILB, and S/CB, and another guard! There will be a player at one of those positions of good value in the 2nd.

Of course, if Dallas has their hearts set on him it might not matter. But they have other holes too, so you never know.

who's your 2nd pick at guard snack? i was reading wes buntings write ups on a few of them, and he says amini silatolu is as good at pulling from the backside as any in the draft. that was a pretty impressive statement. i don't know much about him. he's ranked pretty high though. i have seen washington play alot. he can play near any of the positions. more of an athletic essex to me. osemele, is prety well thought of too. my favorite mobile guy though is still kelemete. he's strong and mobile. i'd love to see him next to pouncey.

So this turned out to be 100% clairvoyant. Especially the part about other guys (turned out to be pass rushers) shooting up and dropping David by default. Please ignore the 500 posts I wrote after this that all say he will never fall to us and we have no chance of getting him.

Maybe the lesson is that our initial feelings now will be more accurate than the ones we have right before the draft. Monti Te'o at #17!
