Yeah this was just one of those games where you can't quite put your finger on it. We should have won the game, just missed field goals, couldn't stop the run, had some questionable play calling and coaching situations, you know this is the standard right? But seriously I'm not close to being in panic mode. We get Bryant and hopefully Shazier back, Bell will probably get better every week, Vick showed he can lead the team to a win, and should get more comfortable as the weeks go by. Kind of a freak loss tonight, which isn't too much of a surprise considering our injuries.

Wow! Someone speaking reason! Do my ears deceive me? Totally agree here. We shouldn't have lost, but we did. Not too shabby against a hated rival when we bring a backup QB to the dance. Some of you talk about Vick like you expected him to play like a first-stringer. If he could he would be starting elsewhere.

I totally support Tomlin's decisions to go for it on both occasions late in the game but I do take issue with the play call on that QB keeper.

I'm curious who all you Tomlin haters would like to be our next coach? Good NFL level coaching is as rare as good QB play.

Coming on and reading the board the 'morning after' makes me kind of happy I caught up with this game rather than watch it live.

Here's my view in the cold light of morning:

What makes this loss so frustrating was that the game was utterly winnable. Utterly.

So for all the loss hurts like hell, fix a few dumb mistakes and we're still capable of getting through the next 4-6 weeks with a decent record.

Whether that's with Vick or Jones at the helm, I don't know.

Yep but it is possible the Steelers lose all those games that Ben isn't playing in.

Who ever would have thought we would lose a game with our franchise qb on crutches for 6 weeks?

I was prepared for a lose. I mean Balt. was 0-3 coming into a must win facing us without Ben on a short week. That is a tall task, and the crazy part is we should have won. Yeah, the run D wasn't good but how about the sacks, turnovers and stops on 4th down. With Ben we would have blown them out, hell with a halfway decent kicker we could have won by 9. Just need to win next Monday, because I think Ben will be back week 6.

Don't even know where to begin. Could have been one of the most bizarre games I've ever seen. I kept saying to myself on the couch, what the hell are they doing. There were definitely some good things during the game that we can get excited about. I honestly thought they were going to lose bad but the team played well enough to win. Kicking and play calling is what doomed them. It took Suishi a couple of games at Heinz before he became a 90% FG kicker there, we need to give Scobee more time. I completely and utterly disagree going for it on 4th and 1 there and even if your kicker missed 5 FG's you got to let him kick it and try for the win. But then the play call? Brown an out on the right side and Vick is a lefty who now has to turn and throw it across his body! Cmon man run Bell up the middle for 1 yard and if they didn't get it at least you can say they gave it to the best guy on the team to try and get the first.

So I don't believe the sky is falling but I said it last week, the Steelers need to go 3-3 if Ben is out 6 weeks in order to make the playoffs in my opinion. This was one of the games they should have won and they gave it away. On the upside Ben was already off of crutches...could he really come back in 4 weeks instead of 6 or even earlier?

Exactly. I am pissed that we literally gave this game away BUT with a different kicker (we have 10 days to fix this) and a better game plan, we will be ok.

Yes, he was OK for a backup QB. No big mistakes. A deep pass to AB that should have been caught for a TD. A nice deep out to DHB. Some good, quick decisions to run for 5-8 yards and pick up first downs. We were at 20 points early in the 3rd in part due to Vick doing enough to help put us in that position. If he had continued to play the rest of the game the way he played the first half, and the first drive of the 2nd half, we probably get the Win. That's what I mean by "OK."

Run Bell 2 times in a row for a first down on 2 different possessions in the overtime, and we are talking about how great of a game manager Vick was instead of worrying how we are going to even win any games at all with him......

Normally I'd agree about giving him more time except that he's the most hated man in Pittsburgh now and is probably a mental case over it. Not even Susi started that bad. Scobee is damaged goods.

Unfortunately, Tomlin did nothing to help that situation - and actually made it much worse with his decision to keep him off the field. I know he's been very iffy this season, but Heinz Field is a tough place to kick and he doesn't seem like he has it yet. But why just throw in the towel on a low percentage bad play when the odds were higher that Scobee makes that kick and we win? Poor coaching decision IMO.

That's what made me lose sleep last night and still feel sick about it today. If we got man handled I'd be more at peace, but we literally gave the game away. 5 sacks, +2 turnover margin, Bell getting yards on the ground... and we lost.

I think Tomlin has created a situation where he can't sit Vick for Jones without looking like he screwed up by bringing his buddy in. Saving face seems to be very important to Tomlin, even more than it is to most people, so I just don't see him giving Jones the chance he should get. Unless Vick gets hurt, one can only hope, and Tomlin doesn't have a choice. JMO

I agree. What else can go wrong. The Defense can only do so much!

Exactly! Makes no sense! The coaching was as much to blame as the kicker! We should have ran Bell or Williams each time! Vick has to learn to release the ball before he takes sacks and looses yardage. We should have just punted and pinned them near the end zone rather than kicking a long field goal. The Ravens only made progress when they started with good field position. We could have held them and the game would have been over in regulation! I am a woman and could have made that call!

Naw! I certainly cannot blame the Defense! The offense had every opportunity to put that game in the bag. Also, the Defense gave them 2 turnovers to work with early and late in the game!

I agree, its a shame about AB dropping a TD but Vicks overall performance was bad. We might see one good game from him but the majority of his work will look like last night.

I do agree partially... Yes coaching calls for sure. But Vick, made lots of errors too! He made some misfires, and held the ball too long and was sacked and we lost yardage. They should have utilized Bell and Williams!!!!!! I don't understand when you have these 2 caliber of players in your backfield why you refuse to put both of them back there at the same time!!! It would have enabled us to gain those 1st downs we desperately needed!!!! Maybe someone from the coaching staff who has some pull will se these suggestions and do it!! They will see how beneficial it will be!

Not sure why all the Hate for Vicks play. The Coaches gave him a game plan and he executed it fir the most part. Was it a poor game plan ? Probably so. But they wanted him to eat the ball not risk throwing late and he did. They wanted him to throw short and be careful and he did .

He only had 1 practice as the Starter I am sure he will have a better game plan next game .

My biggest fear was him giving the game away , but he did not .
