With Vick's ability to seemingly get hurt, is there any veteran's out there that we can sign for insurance? Jones is not the answer, period! What names are possibly out there??

I think Landry is better suited for the job than Vick, at least with Landry, you don't have to revamp your offense.

Only QB's out there worth mentioning I think are Hasselback and J Campbell. If Hasselback is available and was available when we signed Vick, Tomlin put friendship ahead of what is best for the team. That is a QB they could win some games with and would do well in this system.

Hasselbeck is a Colt, and has been since 2013. I would take a look at Christian Ponder.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but someone was looking for some info from you in the Steelers vs. KC thread.

Tomlin said they won't be looking for a backup. For sure (better said: I hope) our Front Office has double checked Vick's injury history.
That said, I'm starting to believe Tomlin got better news than us, and this absence will be short. Otherwise, they would have started looking for a 3rd QB, which Tomlin said we aren't looking for.

Either that, or they are looking for a backup, under the radar.

They can revamp the offense for Vick ... then re-revamp it back if Vick gets injured.

Never seen so much crazy talk about quarterbacks before, hell, call Bradshaw up thats as stupid as the favre murphy threads, obviously very little knowledge about QBs here on this board, reminds me of fans screaming for Bradshaws head his first 3-4 years here, he was throwing so many picks fans hated him, he was a pick machine through out his career pretty much....

This. He even alluded to as much in an interview with ESPN today - only ruling out this week.

diamond , you need to read slowly. nobody said murphy is going to play over vick or landry jones. we all know that's the pecking order so quit acting so high and mighty about that fact. all the tyler murphy thoughts were about him being the now 3 rd string arm instead of bringing in someone from outside the organization while ben is out. nothing more than an emergency qb just in case. we have in recent years gone to our 3rd qb so it's not out of the question to have 3 available. he's been in the meetings in preseason and at least had a couple of packages during that time so he would at least be familiar with some things. it's far from stupid. it's actually pretty smart and much cheaper than an outside player. when ben is back then he can go back to the PS.

lets also not forget noll used to bench him all the time for those picks. noll even started joe gilliam and hanratty at times, yea diamond we were clueless just like chaz noll back then. who knew at the time he would end up that good even when his head coach didn't?
