After the stomp of the 9er's yesterday the usual suspects were praised for the monster game they had. Undercover was Will Allen. He had a whale of a game and I today am appreciating his effort yesterday. And glad he is in Black&Gold. Also props to Mike Mitchell. Maybe, just maybe they have a tandem at safety going forward. Yes I know it was only one game, but the Defense as a whole looked beastly.

3 things I am liking about Mitchell.. 1. the intensity by which plays 2. Very often he strips or attempts to strip the ball. i.e. NE game. 3. Hits hard and plays to the whistle.. If he can stay healthy he will improve this defense

Was it Allen or Mitchell that busted coverage yesterday? SOMEbody was out of position for a guy to be THAT open.

Neither. I'm going with Timmons or Gay.

Probably Timmons. He ends up dropping back maybe 25 yards into that middle zone. Allen is on the other side of the field and Mitchell is deep. Mitchell was telling someone they screwed up after the play, but you couldn't see who.

You think it could have been Timmons' guy that deep? Like he just got behind him and kept going til he found a soft spot?

There was a corner that busted coverage yesterday too right? Wasn't it when Boldin dropped that sideline ball being wide open after Timmons rocked his dome for him? I think that was behind Blake.

Shmarko Thomas can't beat him out. Which is sad.

I don't think so. That was Gay, but he got picked IIRC. I'd have to re-watch it. That Timmons penalty seemed like BS IMO.

I think Boldin helped initiate that penalty by getting up and acting like Timmons had just purposely tried to decapitate him. Even the commentator was trying to act like Timmons was some kind of domestic terrorist or something. There have been a LOT of bullcrap calls like that so far this league wide though really. They just keep watering it down and watering it down.

I was listening to the game and the Steelers announcers said Timmons went to hit him but pretty much missed.

nice game compared to last week but they still threw for over 350 yards and 2 td's and rushed for 3.58 yards per carry. let's not get to excited yet that they have come around, our offense helped them out considerably. :smiley1::cool:

Yeah they definitely need to play with a lead for sure.

Exactly and they faced a standard QB and a standard set of WR'S no elites. That's exactly what this D can match up against . To me this proves it's not really the Coaching it's the talent . We simply need more talent back there if we intend to compete against the elite...

Let's remember that the niners didn't actually start moving the ball until garbage time, and garbage time started long before the 4th quarter did. They had just over 100 yards of offense at the half (basically all on the first drive), and 3 points thru 3 quarters... Were gonna win every game if the D plays like that.

The passing stats are skewed due to the niners playing from behind and the long garbage time TD, and those rushing stats are a little skewed thanks to Kaep running for nearly 6 YPC. We shut the running backs down really well. I'm not saying the steel curtain is back, but the stats don't tell the whole story on defense yesterday. That was an excellent game defensively, and there's no other way to say it.

you guys fail to realize the great buffalo defense got gashed worse than we did against the cheats. Our defensive unit showed improvement. We are getting another weapon back next week. As long as our defense shows some kind of resilience, then we are good.

You can have a fierce front 7 with a good secondary to have a great defense(what we usually had), or have a fierce secondary with a good front 7(what seattle HAD) but we have a good-great front 7 with a subpar to bad secondary.

Take what you can get lol.

Yeah. Allen had a chance to make the tackle tho and missed... It may not have been totally his fault, but he could've stopped it. He had a nice game tho. Pretty much everyone on the defense played pretty well.

exactly. With this high powered offense we don't even need the defense to be like that, but they showed up. If our D would play week in and week out we couldn't be stopped.

Keep in mind if we follow suit of the Steelers we will play very average next week. Let's hope that trend stops.

I am nearly certain that the bad mishap was Blake.

I think we're talking about different plays. Will Allen wasn't anywhere near it.

Most of that came after the game was basically over.
There was one point I believe in the second quarter that crapperneck had like 0 net yards passing total.

    I'm pretty excited.

i'm not saying the front didn't play better and so did the back end somewhat, but our offense forced them into garbage time as some say. they also dropped a lot of completions that were there for the taking. that would have added to those said garbage yards. look at it however you want but they are still leaving a lot to not be excited about on defense. i hope we continue to clean some of this up as we go. i don't think we are as close as some think yet.:cool:
