I'm guessing the Steelers are going to break tradition and extend him after this season and its going to be costly. Today he became the third fastest WR to 400 catches and extended his record of 5 catches for 50 yards and 7 catches in a game which is now at 12 straight. If he keeps up at the pace he is on he will break the 2000 yard mark in a single season this year. He is easily the best player in the game. Not WR but player. You can't cover him. We get the pleasure of watching one of the most dynamic players to ever play the game. They should start on his bust for the HOF now so it's perfect when he retires which could be a long time from now. Is it too early to start asking if he could catch Rice?

Eh he enjoys doing and he never really takes a big hit from it. I'm sure if he didn't enjoy it as much as he does he wouldn't be out there.

Dude AB might be the best WR in the NFL, he doesn't have the size, but he really can do it all.

I think right now he is not even being paid top 15 WR money.

I'd be all for it, dude is a stud. I totally agree that he iust might be the best player in the whole league, at the very least he is easily the best receiver.

It will be expensive, but money well spent. As long as we have Ben, Bell, and Brown together this offense will be explosive.

I still don't see them giving him a new contract after the season.

They moved 2 million from next year to this year and unless they plan on doing it again next year there's no way he will play for 6 million dollars. You don't want to make him feel slighted because then no matter what you offer him he may not sign. I'm not one for breaking tradition but for a player like him I would.

I wouldn't say he "might" be. I would only say he is and I really don't even think it's close. Barring all the crazy stats and stuff like that all you really need to know how good he is are your eyes. He gets it done week in and week out. He is worth a lot of money and deserves it. Even if we have to make some sacrifices to get the money to keep him.

Rodney Harrison just said "He's the most dangerous weapon in the league and he's a lot better than Hines Ward". The Ward part was sarcastic. I think...

I'm guess Hines was sitting right next to him or listening in. Don't they both work on that same Network crew? He was just busting balls I'm sure, although AB's stats are going to leave Hines' in the dust, but they are way different players. AB is way faster and has a greater skill set,but you won't see him breaking any LB's jaw anytime soon. :thumbs up:

That's the way I feel about Hines too is that he's just a "football player". Some guys actually transcend the actual position they play and are just "football player". I thought of Brett Favre that way. I think of Ben that way and I think of Hines that way.

I think the Steelers will milk his current deal for all its worth because its no gimmie that they will be able to satisfy what AB will be looking for.

I'd like to think the two sides can work out a deal when his contract is up but is everyone sure that will happen? Its going to be a huge contract. And what happens if they do decide to try and work out a deal early and then cant come to terms? Just opened a can of worms and didn't even get him signed.

No, sucks for AB but I believe he will be playing out this current deal until he has a year left and us fans will have to hope they can work out a deal to keep him here.

Maybe they should just go ahead and pledge the Woodley and other funds that are about to come free to him?

To be clear. He was getting paid top WR money when he signed his contract. The market has gone up since then....

Simply the best football player on the field most games, only a handful of football players better than what we have in AB.

No he wasn't the Steelers weren't giving a guy who had one good year top WR money. He got his deal the same time Megatron got his deal and a gear later Wallace got his deal. Fitzgerald was making like 15 million. He deal was good for him at the time because he was still an unknown.

Yeah I could see him being the sacrificial lamb? Couldn't you? If the truth were to be told I'd say there's some buyer's remorse there. I say Allen's future depends on Boykin. If Boykin gets it together I say it makes Allen totally expendable. Wouldn't you? Or do you think they wait to see what they have in Golson?

Jordan and Brown do not belong in the same sentence! Comparing apples to oranges lol.

Either Brown leaves for the money or he stays for a legacy.

So he didn't get top dollar for what he had done on the field at the time? They gave him basically what they were willing to give Wallace for less on the field production. To say he's been slighted is a little unfair as the market for top receivers blew up the next year due to the cap increases.

Getting top dollar for what you have done and getting top money at a position are two different things. If I remember correctly they offered Wallace roughly 10 million more overall which he turned down. Like I said Browns deal then was all around a good deal for everyone but now its nowhere close to a good deal for Brown. At the very least I'm going to say he has 4 years left with the Steelers because I do think the Steelers would have no issues with dropping the franchise tag on him two years in a row considering that is probably the money he will be looking for anyways.
