Hey guys, first time posting but I had to ask some Pittsburgh natives. So im in ST.Louis and im a hugeeeeee steeler fan with almost a man crush on big ben(not at all gay).I just think he is fun to watch and a hell of a football player.I stick up for him all the time whether its off the field stuff or his level of play on Sunday. My question is not taking in account the two accusations that were put again him,how is he in real life.Iv read online and in papers that he is cocky, not very nice to the people of Pittsburgh, that he skips out on checks and does not tip.Is this in anyway true,id be very disgusted as id call him my favorite player ever in the nfl.

He's very approachable, very accomodating at training camp. My son's gotten his autograph a couple of times.

My 'little guy" is nineteen now. We've been making the trek to St. Vincent's at least once every year since he was eight. It's a great place to bond with the kids.

Interesting article, but a year and a half has passed since that article and I believe Ben has really turned his life around since then.

The guy was known for being arrogant, rude, hostile, a bad teammate, sexually aggressive and many other things. Apparently he has changed. I don't buy it, I just think he hides it better. I would imagine that being nice to people is something he has to try to do these days rather than it just coming naturally like it should.

It's up to you whether you believe the he has changed. I don't and as such am not a fan and never will be. I actually wish the Steelers would draft his replacement and cut him. I have always prided myself on cheering for a team that doesn't have those types of players.

There are a lot of athletes that have a sense of entitlement. Not just the Steelers, not just football and not just professionals.

Hines was the same way when I approached him to sign my hat. Very rude, arrogant and seem like he didn't want to do it. It might of been a bad night since it was at night and he and some teammates where leaving a men's clothing store. This was a while ago....so maybe he's changed. Plaxico was with the team back then.

Past tense, he let success go to his head and put himself in situations that he shouldn't have. Now though, he has kept his nose clean since his suspension, got married and every single person who interacts with him says he is the Ben of old when he first came into the league. Sometimes it takes nearly losing everything for the light to go on.

It is kind of funny when someone is famous how we all think we know that person...personally. I can go out right now and say so and so is an arrogant ahole who takes everything for granted and is sexually aggressive. If someone else doesn't know so and so and they hear that that is all they know about that person...true or not. I'm not saying...I'm just saying.

This is why people only believe what they want to believe and there is no use arguing on the internet. But . . .

True, but it's not like it was just one person saying these things about Ben. Hell, he went through two separate police investigations, many restaurant staff all over Pittsburgh have stated he skipped out on bills, didn't tip, was rude, etc. Former friends of his spoke out against him, former and current teammates, he himself said he was a bad teammate. In the case of Ben, there's so many people saying the same thing I would find it hard not to believe. Not to mention the fact that Ben has never denied any of it, and in fact, has confirmed most of it.
