We all thought the O would need to, and could, score 30

We just went up against the SB champs, and Brady, who though hated, is one of the best, and held them to 28. Our D is young, lacks playmakers and talent, and played to expectations. Before the game if asked if I would be OK holding Brady to 28, I would have said "Yes".

The O moved the ball, and has lots of talent, but the playcalling was way below expectations. Gadget play early when things were clicking, mysterious choices at the goal line, and poor clock management. Add in missed FGs and an out-of bounds TD catch, and you lose by 7.

Though the D was porous, this one is on the offense. They let us down.

My pessimistic side is concerned that our coaches on offense are so bad at calling a game, we are in big trouble. And the D looked clueless, especially since they have had weeks to prepare. The future is bleak.

My optimistic side thinks this D will get better as the season wears on, and the offense will improve in the red zone when Bell and Bryant return. And this was against the Pats, one of the best (and cheaters). The future is rosy.

Not sure which side will win out.

Spot on. So many given away splash plays all night. Give them only 2 instead of 10 and we beat them. Hell even 7.

just pure stupidity all night long!

Getting cute on the first drive altered the entire game. Had we just stuck to what was working, we have them on their heels.

Playing defense is a lot easier with a lead.

Yes, our offense failed to convert good drives early. That hurts. But it happens to a lot of teams early in the season. What really hurt us was falling by 14. At that point, Ben seemed to press a lot. With as much time as we had, he shouldn't have, but I'm sure he had little faith in the defense either.

It'll get better. Greatly on offense. If the defense can even reach mediocrity, we'll be ok.

Agree, not the time for a gadget play at all! What are you thinking there? You're running the ball at will. You've got solid passing game when you need it, let's go trick play here! Brown has to just throw that ball away when he see's it didn't work though.

Defense will get better. Secondary looked baffled as to what the coverage's were. Linebackers didn't perform well at all on coverage shifts.

Was it me or did they really work the pick/rub play a lot on the secondary? They have to work on this in practice! I feel they don't do this in the practice sessions so defenders were seeing this for the first time!

Just like last year the offense moves the ball, but shoots itself in the foot when it's time to score! DHB makes a great catch and then flubs an easy TD? WTF?

The way the media played it up so far Brady ripped the best defense a new butthole and crapped down their throats! In reality blown assignments and bad tackling handed them 28 easy points!

at times it looked like a Chinese fire drill on both sides of the ball and by players and coaches. we had an extra week and an extra game to get ready this year. this team lacked preparation. it starts with the head coach and the coordinators. the rookies and young guys on the other side were well coached and ready to play.

Agreed on that as well! Why not practice some smart football? They have to have some drills in place for loose balls! How does Gronk get the fumble on the goal-line? This has been a pattern for far too long!

Agree that Ben was trying to force things a bit once we got behind. If we had converted those FGs, then the offense probably executes with less risk. But then, it would be better if we hadn't had to settle for FGs...

We lost to the defending SB champs in their house, and made it a game. The last time we went in there, our team gave up 55 points.
Could the offense, defense, and special teams played better? Of course. But, there is a reason that SB winning teams are 9-1 in opening games (with the only loser being a road team due to a stadium scheduling conflict). I saw enough for optimism. I was expecting more of an assault from the Pats' O. Get Bell back. Get Bryant back. Let's roll.
