Yup! I don't care what they think they're using him for. He's not returning punts/KO's with any proficiency. He doesn't show the ability to shake off a hand tackle and accelerate through a hole or get outside.

Between him and Landry Jones, I'd rather see them keep Chick and Grant on defense.

Why Archer when you have Ben, bell, Brown, Bryant and you're counting on Wheaton and Miller? Where does he get his touches?

I think the point of the article was his importance with Bell and Bryant out. Not that I necessarily agree.

Those little quick passes that Archer catches out of the backfield can be effective but that's all he can do really. He is not a RB or a WR ... gimmick player.

I saw Archer get a handoff and a DL sneezed real loud and Archer went down. On another play, a screen, after he caught the ball a charging LB yelled " Booo"!!! And again down he went!!!

Speed means nothing if you can't stay on your feet!!!

He reminds me a bit of Antwaan only not near as good.. He covers alot of ground sometimes running east and west instead of north and south

I thought his timing looked much better this preseason than last. Then again, last preseason he also looked promising.

Without Bell or Bryant, then it's fair to say that we will be using him more. And as many of us have said before, the key to Archer being useful is having him on the field and *not* using him, so we don't telegraph the plays so much (his improved timing will also help with this). Naturally, without Bell on the field, Archer will be on the field more. So this is his chance to shine...

They need to use his speed and get him in space. Reverses, allow him to get lost in coverage. Use the speed before he can be touched. Gotta be a way to use that.

He's small enough that if his balance was that good, he should be able to take a swipe and still keep his feet going. We keep hearing how strong he is comparatively, but we don't see that in the leg drive department.

Article was written by Dri's mom. Sorry but this guy shouldn't be on an NFL roster

It also means nothing if you don't step on the gas. He spends too much time looking for green grass, and not enough time scorching it.

I`m quickly souring on this pick...
I watched him play at Kent State, and he made defenders look stupid...

I really haven`t seen it since he`s been at the NFL level..

I know he needs to be used the right way, but we have given him multiple chances, this pre-season, and he has yet to show what I had seen at the college level...

I hope I am wrong, because at this point, we don`t have many other options,
I agree, he is not a between the tackles option, even tho we used him that way before...

His threat is most definitely on screens, misdirections, etc...
I had hoped, maybe, to relieve Brown on kickoffs/punts...

But he hasn`t done that well, either...

Like the end of the article said...

He better do SOMETHING well, and use his speed, because we don`t have anybody else, to take his place...

I`ve seen his potential, in college, but I haven`t seen him capitalize on it, yet, at this level.

he BETTER get it done, now, or we have a big problem!

Hope he shows us why he was drafted, now!!!

I believe he CAN, I`m just hoping he WILL!!!

    He hasn`t yet, IMHO!

    GO STEELERS!:yeehaw:

During camp word was Dri was making noise. I'm thinking the noise heard was him hitting the ground. He needs to regulate his forward progress to where his body can stay in sync with his footing. Another issue i'm seeing he likes dancing with the stars, reminds me alittle of Mendenhall. He may need some extra grass around the holes if you get my drift. Seriously for a player on the rise he was given little help from a ineffectual offense. (I'm sure Jones would attest) I seen little to no production in this years preseason games from anyone. Just hope this is not a prelude to poor or incompetent coaching, we don't need another year of that song & dance. We shall see!!

Aye, this is the real problem with any assessment of our current young players, I think.

I got a problem with Archer. He seems to play scared and it only takes an arm tackle to get him to the ground IMO. Maybe he can beef up a little and get more confidence in time.
