now a comment Big Ben said it best about Brady----

I think he's the best in the business. And if you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best

Maybe. I think it's more the case that you have to be great, and have the cards fall your way. For example, plenty of teams have won the superbowl without beating the best team in terms of W/L record. Hell, the Dolphins perfect season wasn't against the hardest schedule, and even then they almost messed up the Superbowl.

As for Brady being the best... it's all about the asterisks. I want us to be the best, and to beat the best, but I want them all to be playing to the same rules...

Right. And Brady got caught. And his team got caught several times. That puts an asterisk next to their claim to be 'the best'.

Ben is basically saying the right things for pre-match build-up - basically saying he doesn't mind who they play, and paying a bit of respect to a fellow professional in the meantime.

I did. Nothing really jumped out at me. Typical player giving another player complements.

I am so tired of that justification I can't begin to express it. There is a world of difference between breaking the rules like having your socks rolled down(actual rule) and seeking to gain a competitive advantage by using whatever means necessary. Yes stealing hand signals is something everyone does but hiring a videographer to sneak into practices and illegally record walk throughs, practices and even sidelines during the course of a game is called cheating. Using that information in order to gain a competitive edge on the field is called cheating(I don't care if the coach presents the information and never told you where they got it, you cheated. Letting the air out of footballs becuase it makes it easier for you to hold during crappy weather in New England as well as receivers catching it and RB's holding on to it without alerting the officials to your doing it or allowing the other team to do it as well is called CHEATING. I am so tired of people trying to make light of what the Pats did by dumbing it down to every breaks some rules, sometimes. They cheated and continue to cheat and continue to lie about cheating not an honorable man in that nest of scumbags. They cheat to win and if they want to be proud of that fine but then they also have to deal with a great majority of people knowing that they have to cheat to win

Once again there's a huge difference in doing something that's not against the rules at the time and then a rule coming out about it. Than deliberately breaking said rule.

People were mad about the Patriots using the designated receiver rule against the Ravens last year. I wasn't, it wasn't against the rules at the time. Now it is, so if they do it this year our try to use some weird variant, then I'll be mad.

Hell, I'd love to see some ingenuity out of the Steelers again around play-calling.

Yeah because those things are exactly the same thing, oh wait they aren't. If there were any proof that the Steelers paid off the refs to get things called their way then yes I would say they cheated. Unfortunately that isn't what happened the Seahawks fantasy can call foul all they want doesn't make it true. Same with steroids as Lizard said it wasn't against the rules at the time and trying to use it as an excuse for what the Pats did 40 years later is ridiculous. The Patriots have been caught multiple times not just bending or breaking a rule here or there. They sought by deliberate action to gain an unfair advantage on the field. They did so in a way that leaves no doubt in any rational persons mind that they were trying to cheat. This isn't some fan crying about bad calls but physical evidence that they were cheating.

I get worked up about the weather and I can't do anything about that. In this case you are correct no amount of kicking and screaming will change the outcome of those games. What I can do is not let people trivialize what they did and try to excuse it with the lamest of reasons. They cheat pure and simple, they are the Superbowl champs but they are still cheators and that isn't going to go away.

No. That would only be if he had said "To BE the man you gotta BEAT the man!" However, Brady is a stylin', profilin', limousine ridin', learet flyin', kiss stealin', wheelin', dealin', son of a gun! So the point still stands. LOL!

I rarely find Ben eloquent in his interviews and this is again another case. He has always taken the high road when speaking of Brady though rarely speaks to anything he truly admires about him other than the SB wins. I also think he calls him the best because of the SB wins and in his own way he wants to put it in the back of people's minds that he is won 2 and should be thought of as one of the very best as well.

I agree as well - the way I try to describe it is the Patriots are a really well run organization and where as a lot of teams will bend/stretch the rules a bit, I think Pats push it a little further by systematically finding ways to improve how they cheat.

It's almost like the Pats say "We not only are a better team than you, but we cheat better than you too."
