has he really earned a spot? i know we have DW and dri too but with DW injury history and dri's size and probably not going to be a feature back anytime soon, has harris shown anything yet to earn a spot? he hasn't even caught a pass in the preseason. if something happens to DW in the first two games, are we right back to where we were for our playoff game last year? shouldn't we have had some more backs in here to at least look at? chisholm is here but does he have a realistic chance over harris? is harris enough this year? pretty lackluster from what i have seen. his only really good run was the one with the holding call last year.

Personally I would rather go after Ray Rice or Fred Jackson or someone with more pedigree. I am not sold JH is worthy of a roster spot right now. It seems we are really going all in after a championship so if that is the case get a RB with more experience in my opinion. Now whether Jackson would settle for being the 3rd RB who knows. Rice I am sure would love the opportunity.

i'm not sure we need one of that high of a profile. jackson could still have some ankle issue's i have heard. i'm thinking of a younger guy with some upside. harris really hasn't shown a lot of that to me.

Josh Harris has let me down a bit, I thought we really had a good running back in him. But, he hasn't done much this pre-season. But, I still think he makes the team. But, after the 2nd game when Bell comes back, he might be headed to practice squad.

Based on limited observation Harris doesn't block very well. That limits his use. Archer can't block but at least can run and catch.

I seem to remember him doing well in the playoffs. Maybe it's a wait and see. Anyone attend practice to notice how well he does?

I agree. He likely wont last in the Burgh.. He is only there because of attrition and next man up lol.. Sorry could not help the Tomlinisims .. Speaking of Tomlinisims we have a new one for this year " arrow pointing up " lol .. Obviously

I've been hoping it clicks for him, but I don't see it happening.

Yeah, we will just roll with him as back up until bell is back. He hasn't warranted a spot on the 53 when that happens... In all reality I bet he heads back to the PS and we bring in another back or two via the draft or UDFA to take his spot or make him earn it. I think we're fine with him for two games as a safety valve though. I doubt we'd waiver wire a back up RB after the final cuts

Will see alot of Harris tonight along with Williams , Harris needs to make a statement as Labriola said he's still an unknown.

Makes you think sometimes it would make more sense if someone like Josh Harris or Dri Archer were caught doping, especially if they happen to catch the ragging about them on this MB. Why is it players who should be on top of the world like Bell, Bryant and Holmes? Or is that the problem - can't handle success without that daily crutch (like a few other 20 somethings we know of). :hehehe:

Jackson is either hurt or wants a decent number of carries. Otherwise I'd take him (as would have Seattle).

I agree and the other players speak so highly of him,so I dont get it. I was expecting more and more explosion. He looked lost last game. See what happens tonite I guess.

Maybe Ross Scheuerman would have pushed for that 3rd spot, too bad he got hurt.

Montae Ball is fighting for a spot on the Denver 53. Maybe worth a look down the road.

i'd consider willj as the 3rd back until bell gets back.

keep nix and willj and kick james to the PS and cut harris. nix is a good ST'er too.

two TE's and two FB's.

Why can't Will Johnson be our 3rd running back, dude has speed. I still think he should have started in playoffs last year.

i'm serious about this. willj can play the fb role and the 3rd TE and the 3rd RB. nix can play fb and ST's demon.

    I'd take a look at Ball if he doesn't make Denver's 53.

Honestly....Trent Richardson...he has not been good..but the talent was there...I just don't think he can get out of his own head...but with the Steelers solid coaching....I would bring him on as that #3 RB behind Bell, and Williams...he has been playing on par with the Steelers backups...but his ceiling is much higher if the Steelers coaches can do their thing...and if not he costs nothing.....but even on the roster...he will only touch the ball maybe 30 times all season

My RB's for now are Bell, Williams, Dri, Johnson, and Nix.....Nix has more value than any of the Steelers other RB's
