Pouncey going down sucks...but at least it happend now. Just need to find a suitable backup. Tuitt going down sucks to, but it's football. Lots of teams lost key players for the SEASON. Let's be thankful it was just part of the season for both, and that it wasn't Bell(superbowl vision dimmed) Brown (SB vision dark), or Ben (No SB, no playoffs, last in division, long season).

    Steelers will find a way.

If you put him on IR designated to return. That would buy the Steelers about 10 weeks. Hopefully Pouncey would be able to go after that point.
Until then I've like what I have seen from Wallace in the past, he can get the job done.

Sorry but I`m getting that SEASON IS DOOMED feeling. The injuries, the outrageously tough schedule, the rebuilding of the defense which seems clueless against the pass.

I think we needed zero injuries on the offense and an improving to average defense to be a SB contender, but we already lost our kicker and center. Now I`m thinking more injuries are on the way and a token wildcard is a stretch.

On the flipside, it's almost an ideal scenario for an America's Game episode, though.

Losing Pouncey hurts, but we did ok without him last time he had a big injury. While I have nothing against Suisham, I don't get the sudden idolization now he's injured. Hartley just needs to do what he needs to do.

The secondary is still a big worry, but they seemed to be trying a few different looks yesterday - I think they're slowly testing out the new D. At the moment, and barring any more horrific injuries, I'm thinking they'll be up to speed by Week 1. The pass rush is definitely improving. That's going to help a huge amount.

Worth remembering that our loss in the play offs last year wasn't all down to Bell's injury. The team played like ****, at the end of the day. Execution was awful.

But - while this team can certainly win despite some injuries, the team didn't play well last year any time after they'd taken a knock. Bell's DUI, then Bell's injury, and the stuff with Blount... they sometimes looked a little distracted. If I'm Tomlin, the thing I'm focusing on is getting the team mentally where they need to be, and filling in the gaps left by injuries with as solid - not necessaruily spectacular - an FA as I can find. A Velasco type, essentially.

PS. @BigBensBigBong@BigBensBigBong have you met RealSteel around here yet? He's great if you need a pick up from the whole 'season is doomed' vibe.

I don't think the season is doomed by any-means. Yes Pouncey is going to hurt but hopefully Wallace will play above the line as Tomlin likes to say. Tuitt is a loss but not sure for how long. The key to this season is going to be the secondary. In this new pass happy NFL we need guys that can step up and make the occasional play when needed. There were several plays yesterday where the guy was either a half step slow or took a bad angle from making an explosive turnover type play. Thomas jumping the route comes to mind and twice I think Spence just missed either knocking down or picking off a couple of passes.

I thought we looked better as a team and Landry showed me something in the 2nd half. He looked a lot more comfortable and I am not as worried as I was. I still think we need to find another long term QB option. Gradkowski isn't getting any younger.

lets not forget the safety play is still suspect. adams is still out. timmons has turf toe. vince williams is still out. tuitt is out. we have no depth behind wallace to speak of. cam thomas is starting at DE. our backup qb has gotten hurt again after about 4 snaps. add our kicker being lost and it's alot more bleak. key positions without much behind them is pretty worrisome for a SB run.

Safeties suspect ? Suspected of what not being able to cover? That's a fact...I know you have high hopes for Shamarko , but when he allowed Lacy to catch that ball with like 1 yard for a first I fell over. No reason for him to give a Fat RB enough space to do that, showed a clear lack of confidence . He should have been tight and dared them to throw that crap out there....That's a play a good Safety takes to the house for a pick 6 ...

I swear I think I could have picked that ball and I am old and washed up. In my prime no doubt ..lol . For real just shows his mentality , rather lay back and make a hit than compete for the Football.. If he respects Lacy that much the Scat RB'S of the NFL will tear him apart... He has to get that Ball is mine mentality ..........

yep, thats the suspect part. coverage and the deep half have to be a concern. he's a better cover guy than that. where is that 4.3 speed? i do however have more concerns about mitchell. i've seen very little from him so far. i'm sure will allen would have made the play though.

I agree Mitchell to much of a in the box Safety without the skill set of Shamarko. Mitchell I have limited hope for,in the box make a tackle safe/solid type of player. I think Shamarko actually has the skills , but lacks awareness and confidence. A bad combination both ways to run a Cover 2 .

Shamarko is still a neophyte and is probably thinking too much out there. Enough reps at game speed and motor memory will kick in and he'll make plays like the one he missed yesterday.

Its much too early to fret, A good organization and coaching staff
will get these players ready to compete. We have a long way to go but so do a lot of teams.

Mitchell is injured again. Shamarko showed a bit of promise against the Packers. The secondary is a work in progress. This Defense is not ready for prime time. The Offense will be a catalyst, but, there is going to be a time where the Defense needs to step up when the Offense struggles. At this point I don't have the confidence that can happen. Super Bowl to me is a bit pre mature. As said, enjoy the season and may the chips fall where they may.

    I wouldn't say I'm panicking now.

I'm beginning to remove sharp objects from my TV room, though.

I feel like the football gods are trolling us. Preseason they were waving the trophy in front of our faces "come and get it, here boy". Then they trolled us by wiping our team out lol. If Raisins, Dallas, or New England win it ill just give up on life haha

I'm not worried at all honestly. As long as the O line gives Ben time we will be fine. Wheaton will get more looks, and another WR will step in. S Coates may even see a couple of looks in the first four games now, so don't panic. I still see us starting the year at 3-1, worst case is 2-2.
