Hey Everyone

Hey all! I have been reading the board for a few months now and decided to register finally. I had been a member of another Steeler Board for 15 years until new management took over and changed the dynamic drastically. Basically what happened was the new ownership started posting threads in a pretty rude tone demanding that all members either start paying membership fees or get out.

In the 15 years I was there, I payed membership fees voluntarily for about 12 of them. However the site crashed for an extended period and when it came back up, all accounts had to be set up all over again. I didn't extend my membership right away although I was thinking about it and probably would have. After ownership started getting nasty with everyone it just rubbed me the wrong way especially after being there since about 2001 and after giving so much money to them in the past. I very politely said that I didn't think it was cool being rude about it and that I wasn't sure I wanted to contribute more currently considering the tone of the board.

As a result I was given a Lifetime ban from the site. I find the whole thing hilarious really because there are so many people on that site that are nasty and verbally abusive to other posters, yet are permitted to stay on and do their thing. I get banned after 15 years for daring to question the new regime.

Oh well, nice venting to yinz, like I said I have been reading for awhile and enjoy your board a lot. I relied on this site heavily at draft time. Nice to be here.

 

Thank you good sir! Like I said I have been reading the board for awhile and it seems like a good community of folks. Yeah I don't know what happened over at the other place other than the guy who ran the board since it started gave it up and turned it over to the other partner who helped him run it before and another former member who came back into the fold after a long hiatus. While they seemed to be working to improve the board from a nuts and bolts standpoint, I'm not sure they are emotionally mature enough to handle running a message board. Mine was a case of mega overreaction.

After the threatening message the one guy sent out to all members telling them to contribute OR ELSE, I commented that threatening may not be the best way to inspire people to pay monthly. I said I would wasn't sure the changes in the board were for me. The one administrator said, "You sure are wasting a lot of bandwidth posting for someone who doesn't know if this place is for them". To which I replied, "That's fine, I will continue reading the board only and won't post any more until I decide what I want to do".

Saying that apparently was the straw that broke the camel's back. The other Administrator sent me some very choice and colorful words to go along with a Lifetime ban lol. Must have been having a bad day and felt the need to drop the hammer on someone. You'd think it would be someone other than the guy who had never caused a problem and contributed financially to their site for a decade but hey, what do I know?

 

Thanks Furnace. Wondering if you are the same Blast Furnace that used to post of that same site I have previously mentioned. I kind of assumed you were when I saw your name but perhaps I'm wrong.

 

Welcome Supersteeler, Like Blast and TTF said I think you will find things here to your liking. If you have been reading for a few months you should pick up on the rules and such fairly quickly. Rule number 1: Fire Mike Tomlin Immediately is the correct answer for everything. Rule number 2: See Rule number 1. Rule 3: PWP has a man crush on DHB and nothing will change that. Rule 4: Everybody fights! I think that last one may have been confused with fight club but who am I to argue.

Lol, this place shouldn't be much different for me if those are the correct answers on Rule 1 and 2. Sounds really familiar.

Thanks. When I really started getting interested in football was when Cowher took over and Lloyd along with Greene and that whole defense were the players that I cheered the most. I think you will find that the board has its quirks but we generally get along although the discussions can get intense but in the end we are all Steelers fans that doesn't change. WE had a few new members lately that seemed to want to make a name for themselves early by picking fights whichis one way to go about things I guess. I think that just being an active member and your own personality will come through. If you get replies from Darcrav though don't sweat it if you don't understand her replies at first we usually have to have BFT translate for us.

 

Yep it doesn't matter where you go either in real life or on a message board. Seems there is always someone who feels the need to be "that" guy.

Lol, like I said, I donated gladly for a over a decade over there and I will most likely set one up here at some point as well. But to get 15 years in after contributing that long when it was voluntary and then the new boss takes over and gives you the "pay or get out" ultimatum. Well, ya know...
