I agree with being out coached and unfortunately it sounding more and more like Tomlin is not going to make any changes. The only way he makes changes is if Rooney steps in......please help us!

I actually think what happened is the Steelers got beat in every phase of the game, but not all at the same time. Basically, the team appeared to be out of sync:

    1) Defense makes stops in beginning but Offense can't make more than an FG on two drives - Failure, Offense
    2) Then Ike and Gay get absolutely roasted, Defense loses Keisel and Hampton, little-to-no backfield penetration - Failure, Defense
Then... In the 2nd half it's pretty much all Steelers, as the comeback mounts, and the score is tied at the end of the 4th quarter, until...
    3) Final drive, all Steelers need to do is get into FG range... Suisham is ready to go... the approach to, and play after, reaching the Bronco's 45 yd line and all hades breaks loose...
3a) Having timeouts and past the 50 yd line, couldn't control the clock - Failure Coaching
3b) Broncos rush three... count'em THREE friggin' defensive lineman and force a strip-sack (WTF?) - Failure Offense
    4) OT, "Broncos have 80 yards to go, we've controlled the passing game in 2nd half, and Taylor's not playing well on an island, today, but let's sell out to the run" - Failure, Coaching and Defense

The Steelers lacked symmetry. It's a team sport for a reason, and each phase of the game must draw energy from the last, and feed energy into the next. There are times in which one phase must carry a larger load, but they must all come together, at some point. The Steelers only managed to do that for about 2 quarters. Unfortunately, NFL Football is played in 4 quarters. And this game ran into a 5th quarter... for about 20-30 seconds... However, had the Steelers played 60 minutes of complete football, then they would have blown the Broncos out in regulation.[/quote]

This is a great post by rukus4ever and I completely agree. How a "well coached" team can lack symmetry in the playoffs is beyond me, but that's exactly how it looked. With the possible exception of the NE game, we did not play a complete 60 min game, operating on all cylinders, all year. Very disappointing. That's a failure of both the coaches and players.

Ha! "Debacle in Denver" I like that one :lolol: That's pretty much what it was. But we'll be all good come next year.

And, yet, less than a week later, our team has already decided that BOTH coordinators are coming back.... :frustrated:

Thanks! I'm sure the Steelers organization will take the off-season to rectify the glaring issues and learn from this seasons mistakes. That's why the Steelers are always a contender. Not many other fans can say that about their team.

HERE WE GO STEELERS!! HERE WE GO!!!! :herewego:
