Chickillo is my biggest surprise so far. I thought he'd have a much tougher go of it than he apparently is. I had him and Walton on the PS, but he might make the 53.

Yeah I read that Chickillo was one of the brightest spots of camp as far as the "under the radar" guys go.

It is imperative that both these 2 plus Shamarko be on the field
during training camp learning and getting reps. I personally can't stand players that can't stay on the field, held out for hang nails.Get on the field and work. I want players like AB.

I think JJ will have a breakout season. Shazier's "dings" are starting to concern me..

I'm trying to stay optimistic with these two, each time i read this stuff i keep thinking "Guys prove me a no bust" What i'm hearing and reading Tomlin is showing no mercy to any in camp.

I must've jinxed it. JJ just left the field with a trainer.

Probably, but I'd trade having an unproven rookie sit out the season vs. an entrenched starter. I'm not one to cheer an injury to a key player but if it's going to happen, and it is, it's not the worst thing to have it happen to a hated rival.

If I'm not mistaken, Elm isn't an entrenched starter, hes been hurt pretty much since he was drafted.

You may be right. I think they were counting on him to be a starter this season. They need help in the defensive backfield .

I have never seen such an injury prone player in all my life as JJ. It's getting ridiculous. I have been pulling for him to succeed since he was drafted but if he has another injury riddled year with little or no production, I think they have to look elsewhere for the long term at that position.

I agree that it isn't fair to label a guy a bust over injuries. No offense, but I hope these two guys come out and shut EVERYONE up. I better explain...like some have said, I too, feel very invested in how these two pan out. I wanted both guys and was happy when we got them. If they shut us all up, well, that should be a good thing!

 He missed two games as a rookie, and had one bad injury last year on a freak play that cost him half a season. Now you're sweating training camp practices. If it's serious, that's another story, but when he bruises his bicep and misses half a practice, who cares? Playing these guys while hurt in August won't help anyone.

By the way, what else do you want them to do at the position? This offseason they signed one man to a 3 year contract and drafted two more at the position, including their first overall pick. I don't think they're taking it lightly. Jarvis has shown he has the potential to be a successful player at the position. He hasn't set the world on fire, but you forget how hard that is to do for rookie Steeler defenders. Hell, he's done more than Cam Heyward did his first two seasons. Jarvis actually saw the field, so we saw his flaws. He deserves the same time to develop as someone that rode the pine like Cam.

Haven't heard his name much at all aside from him having a minor leg injury Friday. He batted down a pass in the endzone yesterday. Some people were making a stink about Holliman not tackling a RB yesterday during a non-tackling portion of practice.

I said IF he has another injury riddled season this year. That would be 3 out of 3 non productive/injury filled seasons and his first contract will be ending before too long. Would you honestly feel comfortable even considering a nice 2nd contract at this point? I'm not giving up on him yet, but if year 3 is like year one and two, they may have to consider looking elsewhere, like in the draft.

Listen, I hope he stays healthy and lights it up this year, trust me. Probably just my frustration talking.

EDIT: Let me just add that on my previous Steeler board I took tons of grief for being a JJ apologist for refusing to label him a bust already. So I'm not hating on him or counting him out whatsoever. Just always felt that year 3 is the make or break for a high draft pick. Hopefully this injury is nothing, but with him I get nervous.

Yeah, I saw an article where he said he's at 258. If that additional weight is muscle mass, accompanied by the additional strength that we'd expect from the extra weight, then that's pretty darn good news.

Yeah like I said in another thread he looks the part now and I really think he is going to go off this year.

Has to be mostly muscle. He was on a mission to get stronger and spent the offseason with Harrison. No way he gained 10+ pounds of fat. This is good news, indeed.
