I promise only 1 new DHB thread a month , but with all the hell DHB catches he deserves to get his good information out as well . Here is a nice report on him from camp as well as how his Coach feels about his effort and play .http://www.scout.com/nfl/steelers/story/1569280-steelers-notebook-heyward-bey-ballin

I really like and respect a Football player who is a true Team player and not only gives lip service to say all the right things you can actually see they are putting in the work to do those things . DHB is getting better whether he gets chances to show it or not not really relevant . The important thing is he keeps working hard to get better and will be better if needed. These are the type of guys it takes to build Championship Teams.

If he's doing enough to warrant a new thread a month, then times will be good.

Sounds like there's a lot of competition for those WR places, though...

I don't get all the praise you give DHB, it certainly isn't warranted based on his play on the field.

I know. It's so over the top and bizarre that I'm almost rooting for the guy to get cut.
I hate to be that way cause I generally want to see all Steelers players succeed. But dang it's an awful lot of hype about a fourth or fifth string player.

If you need to crush on DHB, good go at it. As far as team spirit and focusing on a players progress..good.

    I wholeheartedly agree with Thigpen82.

I've never understood the love this guy gets. He's been a bust everywhere he's gone. I'm all for keeping good role players on the team, not everyone can be a star, but sometimes DHB gets talked about like he's a star that is about to break out any day now. I just don't get it.

    you know
a thread every week wouldn't be a bad thing
DHB week by week stats and all
unless it's just the same thread updated week by week I guess that would work too

maybe a "caption this" DHB thread too?
    or
    CDHBI thread
    PDHBN thread

    or

DHB isn't the type of player you win championships with... AB, Ben, Bell, Heyward, and Timmons are. However, he is the type of player any coach would love to gave on his team. He is also pretty easy to root for as well.

I wouldn't get too used to DHB in a steelers uniform tho. There's going to come a time in the next year (maybe sooner) where the team will value the upside of a young WR more than DHB's ST play and willingness to block. That's just the way the NFL works.

I hope that if he manages to find the field, he is able to produce... But I just don't see him suddenly morphing into someone who can be counted on to take a good sized share of meaningful snaps at WR.

Yeah, this sums it up for me. I like to joke with PWP about his love of DHB, but I'd be thrilled if he suddenly turns into the WR that has physical tools say he can be (as long as that happens in a Steeler uniform).

This time that hype came from his Coach . I have liked DHB since college he is my type of Football player. He lacks great WR skills , but he keeps working hard to get better . You can take Coach Tomlin's word on DHB is Ballin making combative catches . DHB is still learning as a Football player he finally has a Team to teach him.He was a raw talent coming into the NFL with just 5 years of Football compared to most guys with 12 years or so.

He plays behind a great WR and 2 young investment WR'S that doesn't mean he is not as good as those Investment guys. He knows his role play ST'S, block, and run your routes and be ready to step up if needed. Coach T sums it up he is a Football Player, very rare in todays me NFL league. As such you will have to deal with DHB because he is not going anywhere anytime soon.

DHB does keep working hard to get better. By the time he's 93 I expect him to be a starter.

As I stated above he is like 7 years behind most other WR'S . Coming into the NFL with limited WR skills and going to the Raiders was a complete waste of time for DHB. Getting a half hearted shot with the Colts was also a complete waste of time.

Coach Tomlin is coaching and teaching DHB the way he should have been to begin with as such he is doing like most inexperienced WR'S do and that's get better. Will he ever be 1 of our top options at WR nope probably not . Is he playing to a level to be a 3rd. or 4th. option? Yes of course he is.

The bottom line is DHB was no where near ready to be a #1 WR ,but was forced to be one he sank then 1 year at Colts he sank as a WR. He developed the work extra hard do anything to help the Team mentality and now he has a Team where that is his role while he learns how to play WR . I have no doubt he has developed enough to be a nice 2nd. or 3rd. option on most NFL teams we just don't need him to do that with the other skill options we have at this time .

Only 1 full year of High School football . He played 3 years at Maryland in a mostly Horizontal attack where his 4.23 speed killed defenses. He has 6 years of NFL experience that's 10 years of total Football most guys have that before they even get to College as such DHB is no where near a finished product .

I mean with the # 88 he has to be a keeper no?

although 82 is just a returner and well I don't know if he'll be on the 53

    I'm loving our #10 a lot

#19 seems to be iffy made L Jones look bad last night

That is correct , he switched numbers . I think he was 3 for 3 catching last night and he seemed to block well . A good game for a 4th. WR on a vet min contract.

AB is simply the best WR in the NFL , Bryant is a beast , and Wheaton looks faster and is running crisper routes, Coates is a big strong guy who is running nice routes as well, DHB improved hands and improved route running . We are stacked at the WR position there is no doubt about it .

Better yet how about only 1 thread a year for DHB, that seems more appropriate.

don't believe you can actually make that call
    suggest yes but call no
I'd feel bad if i had a certain someone agreeing with me on a post
you do not have to open a DHB thread and you can block PWP too
see how easy life can be?

Someone tell me I'm wrong but on that long pass to Coates in the fourth quater it look like he slowed up shortly after contact and wasn't going full speed. I think if he had gone all out he separates from the defender and makes the catch in the endzone. also @PWP@PWP are you counting the long throw to DHB in his totals because he was targeted but the defender made a text book pass defend on that play so I have him at 3 of 4.
