Hard to say, his hand or head may have been on the 19 yard line. In any case, I don't think we lost the game because the tight end wasn't lined up properly.

:this!: It's just fun to complain about the consipiracy against the Steelers! Of COURSE we couldn't have just gotten it handed to us by the Broncos. There had to be something sinister involved.

We don't need these threads on here. We're Steelers. We lost. We don't make excuses like this. We can blame our own mishaps but fishing for this stuff is below manly.

Well, in fairness I don't think any Steelers or fans are fishing for a conspiracy with this. This was an article posted by the Denver Post...not 'one of us'. I agree completely though, a fan or teammate using this as an excuse would not be manly. I read it this morning and was hesitant to post it, because these type of articles do have a potential for breeding excuse making. My opinion is-

    a) Denver's formation was not the reason we lost and
    b) These types of formations are run regularly by many teams and are almost never called. It's not a big deal.

What about against Atlanta in 2006?

    Thanks Refs

Always somebody else's fault we lost. Never we did not play well. Had a QB who gets his own way and should have not been in their. Had a defense that cannot defend the passing plays. And the list goes on.

Of course the NFL would say that. They're the "Man" and the Man is always trying to screw the Steelers. Sorry TTF I couldn't resist :hehehe:

On this, I say who cares, defense gave up an 80 yard touchdown.... They bit on the run, and it bit them in their butts...

Absolutely right that there's not a single call that, if the league said it was the wrong call, would send the Steelers deeper into the playoffs. It's a non-issue, and the season is over. There will be other opportunities and the time will come when the games can be won convincingly without controversy. There was no controversy in this loss. The Steelers got their tushies handed to them - on a platter.

    Seriously? :bs:

There is NO REASON Ben shouldn't have been playing. NONE. He didn't give up 20 points in the 2nd quarter, 300+ yards on 10 completions, get no pressure on TeBlow and he didn't give up an 80-yard TD pass in OT.

No, but he did basically throw 3 INT's. One was negated due to a player on the opposite side of the field being offside (didn't affect the throw), and one was dropped by Champ Bailey, something that rarely happens. Ben also missed a few of his WR's, including that horrid screen pass to Wallace that was down by Wallace's feet, although he also didn't get much help from Wallace all day long. Ben was pretty terrible that whole game except for the game tying drive. Sorry, being good on one drive isn't good enough in the playoffs. Ben hadn't played a good game in quite a while, he shouldn't have been in there. I still think Batch would have played better, or at the very least, Batch would have played mistake free and they would have run the ball far more than they did.

What makes you think Batch would have played better? Ben didn't get $110MM to ride the pine while a backup QB is playing, especially in the postseason.

Ben also hit a WR (can't remember who it was) right in the hands on a 3rd down and the ball was dropped. Not Ben's fault. The defense sucked with a rag-tag line and Clark being out.

We scored enough points to win the game (0 losses when scoring 23+ points all season) so I don't know how you can blame the loss on Ben.

Did it affect the play? Absolutely not.

Should it have been a penalty and given us a chance to get our sh-- together, 1st and 15 from the 15? Absolutely.

Is this something I will point to when someone asks why we lost? Absolutely not. That would be almost as embarrassing as Ike and Mundy's defense on that play.

To some it will always be Bens fault. He could throw for 600 yards, 8 TD's and have 1 int and it will be his fault they lost because the other team scored 9 TD's

I don't agree with this. There are very few who believe it is always Ben's fault. There are more who believe it is never Ben's fault. Even more understand that Roethlisberger is inconsistent and has very good games, very bad games and many more in between. With his style of play, we should not expect him to have as long a career as QBs who don't take as many hits.

A more true statement would be to some on this message board it will always be Arians' fault even when we win it is Arians' fault that we did not win by more.
