I'm on record being a fan of the 4-3. I like the big guys getting after it which is why I've never been a big fan of the 3-4. It appears Butler is going to unleash an all new form of Hell on our opponents. With a group of young fast LBers he's taking off the restraints and letting the DL create havoc. I've been calling for this for years so I'm stoked for this season.

I'm also thrilled to see all our current starting DL working with Ted Cotrell with one-on-one techniques. Tuitt was the one lone DL not working with Ted opting instead to work with Chuck Smith. Smith is highly respected and I expect Tuitt to explode this year.

    Go Steelers!!!!

So I guess you want to roll with

    Steve McClendon
    Daniel McCullers
    Cam Heyward
    Stephon Tuitt
    Bud Dupree
    Lawrence Timmons
    Jarvis Jones

    ???

    riding the pine

    Vince Williams
    James Harrison
    Sean Spence
    Arthur Moats
    Ryan Shazier

Do you see the problem there with the 4-3?

We have the personnel for a 3-4 not a 4-3

You want to bench recent 1st round picks to have undrafted or low level picks replace them.

    1st round picks
    Bud Dupree
    Ryan Shazier
    Jarvis Jones

    fitting the 3-4 steeler mold....

You would basically be benching shazier for dan mccullers ...... not a good trade off

Not sure if you are looking to start fights or not but given the tone of several of your posts today it's like you are spoiling for a fight. I don't think Cajun is saying he wants to run a 4-3 with the current personnel just that he is a 4-3 guy and not a fan of the 3-4. That being said his point is that Butler is going to be allowing his DL to engage more they they have before so instead of just being their to eat up blockers and open lanes for LB's they will be part of a pass rush that expects them to to pressure the QB and hopefully get sacks and create havok. This keeps the 3-4 but gives you aspects of the 4-3 that should appease fans of either style

He clearly said he prefers the 4-3, but is excited for the coming year with Butler's 3-4.
