He showed up to OTAs 15 lbs lighter, he will play more snaps this season. D-line coach John Mitchell said he wants to use him in the nickel package.

I think the kid has some upside and needs as many reps as can be allowed.

His main role should be to lie down on his side in goal-line situations, and have the other 10 guys hiding behind him waiting to jump out at the snap.

The other team won't know what's hit them.

The biggest thing I saw from him last year was that when he moves he takes guys with him. I thought on outside zone plays he really disrupted things. When he penetrated on those zones there was no cutback lane.

I have been a fan of this guy since we drafted him and I have talked to some people who followed him in college and the word was he didn't play to his size. I am not a McCledon fan however last year he played a lot better then he has in the past. However with McCullers size and our coaching I feel this kid has some great upside and can bring some "life" back to our middle that hasn't been there since Big Snack has been gone, JMO.

i agree that he brings a whole different style of clogging the pocket with not only himself but two guys trying to block him. this creates a whole lot less area for qb's and rb's to adjust. it has to help our OLB'ers create and what it will really help is if we can free up timmons coming up the middle to clean up. big dan needs work on his awareness once he gets in that backfield though. they run by him as he is messing with the blockers trying to tie him up. a little vision from him in those situations will make him a true force in this defense the like that we haven't seen since early in big snacks career. he could actually make our D so much better.:smiley1::cool:

With all the sub packages he will fit in fine. As Mac stated, and as we saw most plays, McCullers would just push whoever around in the back field but needs to be more aware and finish the play. He will add beef on goal line plays which now includes the go for 2 option. Tuitt, McCullers, McClendon and Heyward. Don't be surprised to see them all on the field at times.

Now to show that Tub O' Lard Cam Thomas to the door...

Hell yeah bye bye fat ass Thomas for sure......let's also throw Walton in the mix. He may not help much this year but he could be a diamond in the rough next year, lots of upside on him.

I'm questioning the loss of 15 pounds? A first year guy usually needs to gain strength, and this usually adds pounds of muscle. I have no idea what his body looked like a year ago? Was he just fat and flabby? Did he not gain muscle? Or did he loose say 30 pounds of fat and gain 15 muscle? Just wondering.

One of the beat writers mentioned how much leaner he looks. I think its a good thing, he's still a monster of a man.

McCullers will be good for the new extra point rule. He will demand two blockers in all short yardage situation.

If the coaching staff can get this young man to achieve his potential, the sky is the limit. We shall see. Only Dan Mccullers can make himself great.

He was like 365 lbs last year, losing 15 lbs should help him become better conditioned to play more snaps.

i like the fact that this could push mclendon. a good healthy fight for the position. it may make them both better. it's not only this position that we will see alot of young guys and guys that are vets but marginal starters fighting for playing time all over the defense. i think it will only make us better, because they are not a bunch of older vets on their way out but guys trying to make their own footprint in their careers as starters. KB is getting a good mix of hungry players in here to build off of.

If I dropped 15 lbs, I'd be well hungry.

The last thing. A guy that size doesn't need to bulk up. He wasn't a blob or anything, but he wasn't a bodybuilder. He had some fat to lose. Losing 15 lbs. will make him better, and I am 100% sure he did not get weaker. I expect him to be stronger.
