Of course this is an IMO thread, but I do not think Golson is a bad pick. Bottom line. Will he be a star? No. Will he shut down calvin johnson? No. But overall, not a bad pick. For those who worry about his size, here he is with his interception over 6 foot 6 Alabama tight end, clearly out jumping him. [IMG]
Apparently in college, Hugh Freeze tried to run him off due to a bad attitude and work habits but for his senior season eh really got his crap together and worked and turned it around. http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/90792/senquez-golsons-long-road-well-worth-it Here is an article after the Ole Miss Alabama game. In short, he will help our secondary especially in zone coverage. Experts said he was one of the best conner backs in the draft and is a good ball hawk.

I understand not everyone likes this pick, but I am going to root for him as he is part of the team now and I want him to be the best. Im excited and am looking forward to see how he plays

The ball hawking skills alone are better than anything we've had in the past decade. Great pick!

I feel like now that the dust has settled there are more people who like the pick than there was originally. A lot of people felt like he was a "reach", but the truth is that there are teams (packers maybe) who would've taken him only a few picks after us if we hadn't. We wanted him really badly (enough to even trade up to get him apparently), and we got him.

Slot corner is basically a starter anymore in today's NFL, and if he can be a stud at that position it will help our defense a ton. We needed some talent in our secondary and we added a guy who can do it all. Ball hawk, great in zone, comes up in run support and is a willing and capable tackler. Pair that with Grant (who also possesses similar qualities), and I think we did a pretty good job of addressing the CB position in the draft.

I think he is a good player , but more of a nickle guy. We have a Team full of those ,however he should be better than the ones we have. We still need a #1 and #2 CB but at least we got some help.

The pick was a bit short to be a "reach". I'll be rooting for Papa Smurf to make the squad and have an impact.

I would have no problem putting him on one side and leaving him. the kid can cover anyone. sure he will give up some plays but when you talk megatron, Thomas, or players like that nobody shuts them down. there is not a so called number 2 wr in the league I wouldn't let him cover and some number 1's.

Which is fine in today's nfl... But I disagree that we have a team full of that type of CB. Allen is outside, Gay (while also good in the nickel) proved last season that he is a good outside guy, Blake was used both outside and in. Webb was the only "true nickel" CB we had coming into the draft. We have a bunch of #2 type guys... And now (hopefully) a stud nickel. We may still be searching for that #1 shutdown corner, but with two #2's and a stud nickel as starters we should be able to get the job done.

    Gay - Allen/Blake - Golson

I know some may think I'm crazy, but I truly believe Cotrez will get it together and become a good #1 for us.
