This year's first round promises to be dramatic, particularly if several teams linked to Mariota are truly interested enough in him to pay Tennessee's price for the #2 overall pick. And what if Tampa goes against all of the rumors and takes Mariota at #1? Will Winston generate similar interest at #2, or will he fall like a rock? Let's take a stab at predicting the 1st round and see who gets the closest to hitting the nail on the head. Here are the rules:

List the 32 picks in the manner shown below. Include an asterisk in front of the team if you've put a team into a different spot via trade. There's no requirement to explain anything like how a trade comes about, or why you've put a player in a certain spot:

    1. Tampa Bay, Jameis Winston, QB, FSU
    2. *Cleveland, Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
    etc...

Here's how the scoring goes. For each of the 32 picks you'll receive points based on the following:

5 points - correctly match draft spot, player and team

3 points - correctly match draft spot and player, but not team. For example if you say "2. Tennessee, Mariota" and Mariota goes #2 overall, but to someone other than Tennessee

3 points - correctly matching draft spot and team via trade, but getting the player wrong. For example, if you say "2. *Washington, Mariota" and Washington trades up to the #2 spot, but takes Leonard Williams

1 point for each player that you correctly have in the 1st round, regardless of whether or not you call the spot/team correctly.

**The Snack Rule - 2 point bonus for matching player and team, but at the wrong spot

We'll lock the thread from editing at 8 PM Thursday before Commissioner Kraft... err... Commissioner Goodell says that Tampa is on the clock.

What about getting the team and player right, but not the spot? For example, I guess Todd Gurley to the Saints at #13, but the Saints trade back and get him at #18.

Each numerical spot has its own score, so in this case you'd get zero for spots 13 + 18, and 1 point for correctly placing Gurley in the 1st round. I will edit the rules and add another 2 point bonus for matching a player with team in the wrong spot. However, the scoring does need to remain relatively simple or I won't have time to figure out the totals.

Well, we mods were debating adding a 500 word limit for posts and calling it "the Snack Rule." So, maybe you'll get two! :roflmao:

2 in so far, that's good. Chitown, I can surmise who you've got listed pretty well. However, for those yet to play please include 1st + last name, school and position. It will make it easier for me to compile results. Thanks

I was going to have the Jets trade up, but this is a really weak draft class for QB's and if teams dont lose their minds, Mariota can drop.

Realistically though, he will probably be the 2nd pick of the draft, i'm just going for something a little different.

Yes, I agree. I was thinking they'll trade up so they can get him before someone who picks after #6

Teams always lose their minds for QBs lol!

This was a lot of work... I second guessed, and then 3rd and 4th guessed myself on some of the early picks, and that created a domino effect. While we can update things up until 8 PM tomorrow, I doubt that I'll put myself through it unless we hear of a blockbuster trade for the #2 spot just before the draft starts - and by then it will be too late.
