He's projected to go in rd 1 or 2 by CBSSports, it would be a bit of a reach but he might be worth it he played safety and cornerback in college. At 6'1 200lbs runs a 4.4 forty and has a vertical of 44 1/2. Strengths: good combination of length, speed and ball skills for press coverage. Shows smooth turning motion to run with athletic wideouts and good makeup speed per Rob Rang CBSSports. His weaknesses weren't listed.

So, as a UCONN guy I've seen Jones play in person several times over the past few seasons, both as a safety and corner. I like him a lot, but in all of the games that I've watched him live I've never said "there's a first rounder." I see him more as a borderline 2nd -3 rd round talent who has been pushed up becuase of his workouts and his high character. I felt that both UCONN corners from last year - Blidi Wreh Wilson and Dwayne Gratz - were slightly better pro prospects before Jones blew up the combine with a world record standing broad jump (yes, world record - not combine record).

So, I'd take him in the 2nd becuase he would be a guy who is close to BPA at that spot and fills a position of need, but I wouldn't take him at 22. And believe me, as a UCONN guy I want to pimp him, but the 1st round is too high IMO.

I like Jones. I think he could go anywhere between our pick and the first few of the second round. He has all the athletic ability in the world, so his ceiling is high. If the Steelers like him at 22 I'm cool with it. I don't mind "over drafting" a guy by a couple spots if he's the guy we really want.

I am with Mac ,on this . I also agree that #22 is to high , but 35-45 is just about right IMO. Maybe we should be looking for trade partners , I think there will be some really good Football players available in that range .

His physical attributes are impressive: 6'1, 32" arm length, big mitts at 10", and vertical = 44.5". Team Captain and highly coachable according to numerous scouting reports that I've read. In your assessment, why don't you see Jones in the same conversation as Peters, Johnson, Waynes in the 1st round. Not enough explosiveness as a CB? Lacking ball skills? Also, do you see Jones more of CB or Safety?

In person he looked like he was slow changing directions - kind of lacking quick twitch reflexes in coverage, especially when a receiver made a break downfield. Ideally, you want a true 1st round corner to be able to lock down one of your opponent's key weapons. I don't see Jones as being quite there. By the way, I really don't like Peters as a 1st rounder, and I'd take Jones over Peters any day. I see Williams and Waynes as the only clear cut 1st round DBs (although Williams will be hurt by off the field stupidity). I also like Kevin Johnson, but the more I watch and read the more I have doubts about him. For me, Jones is in a cluster of DBs that I like roughly the same after Williams and Waynes. They all have their strengths and areas for improvement. I think those guys should all go in the 30 - 60 range.

I'd have no problem selecting Jones at #22. His tape is almost as impressive as his athletic ability. Combine that with great character and I can't for the life of me figure out why he wouldn't be a lock for the 1st round. He or Kevin Johnson at #22 would make me very happy come Draft day.

Maybe some here remember when the Emperor fell in love with Rod Woodson, said he has all the tools to be great, what a prophet. Maybe we have the same situation with this kid? Lets really scour over his tape talk to people. He is flying up the list. If our OLB is gone, I have no problems with a high rated CB/safety type with a good solid citizenship back ground.
