Kind of a slow time of the year before the draft and I even get sick of reading everyone's mock 17.0 lol. That includes my own dumb draft advice :lolol:.

So if you were the Steelers GM for the month how would you handle these topics:

    1. Your realistic top 5 players for the first round pick.

    2. Any cuts on our roster. Or any re-signings.

    3. Changes to coaching.

    4. Off the field changes.

    5. Philosophy changes on the team.

    I can start it off.

    1. Kevin Johnson, Ereck Flowers, Cam Erving, Malcolm Brown, Marcus Peters (if character concerns pass).

    2. Obviously Cam Thomas. I think its time for Troy unfortunately. Mike Adams after TC. Landry Jones after TC.

    3. No changes to the coaches for me. Good staff imo.

    4. Kind of an open topic. I was thinking about the stadium, parking, stuff like that. But since I live out of state I don't get to enough games to say unfortunately. I've been to Heinz 1 time. I liked the walk of fame deal they had on the ground level. That was cool.

    5. Another abstract one. One change for me would have them to be open to "Hard Knocks". I would love to see some more of that behind the scenes stuff.
I would still try to draft BPA with a slant towards need.

Who's your back up tackle if you cut Adams? He is a good back up and is still very young and could still get better.

A draft pick or an UDFA or a post training camp cut. He could get better or worse. I'd rather have them go in another direction instead of being complacent with Adams at tackle. I think the back up tackle spot on the line is the most important behind the starters. You need those edges of the line secure. If someone is acquired by one of those three ways that has a higher ceiling than Adams but may not be his equal yet. I'd go with the latter.

    I like your being specific...

Personally, I am more of a "casual fan", so, I`m not well qualified to "play gm", and address your points, one by one, but many on here are, so, I am hoping by replying, I will encourage the more knowledgable board members to chime in...

First off, I would ask for a raise, because my team hasn`t had a losing record, in longer than I can remember, and we consistentley are a threat to get in the playoffs, and get to the ultimate prize... ;):lolol:...

    Seriously, tho...

    1. I don`t follow college football enuff, to know who the best prospects are.
I`m hoping we draft a cornerback, or safety, that is ranked highly on our board, unless an awesome tight end is available.
I really don`t see much need to draft an offensive player, other than a possible replacement for Heath...

As much as I love him, I think he is down to 2 or 3 more years of being healthy...
Otherwise, the defensive backfield concerns me far more than any offensive position.

    2. Yep, Cam needs to go. So does Troy, even tho that breaks my heart as a fan. Wouldn`t mind having Keisel back, but it`s probably smart to let him play elsewhere, at his age, and injury history...I`d have a hard time making that call, tho.

    3. Nope, unless a Rooney tells me to get rid of a coach, we should be set.

    4. Off field... Ummm, reduce the price of beer? Hire more security guards, to speed up the process of getting people in the Stadium?

    5. My biggest "philosophy changes", would be hoping that Keith Butler brings a simpler, and more aggressive Defense to the field.

Letting them attack the qb more, and no playing 5 yards or more off the recievers, ALL THE DAMN TIME!...

And making the scheme simple enuff that talented college players can see the field in their first year or two, if they are more physically talented, than the veteran ahead of them...

Philosophically... Telling Haley not to try to "outthink" our opponents in the redzone.

Don`t get "cute" there. Just score! Play the percentages.

And no, I wouldn`t want us to be on "Hardknocks".
As a fan, hell yes, I wanna see all that behind the scenes stuff, but as a GM, I think it`s too much of a distraction.
Focus on preparing to win #7... NOTHING ELSE!!!

    GO STEELERS!!!

My thoughts exactly. Also, why does Steelhurtin think Adams is a good back up? I think he sucks whether as a back up or starter. He simply stinks.

    1. Your realistic top 5 players for the first round pick.
Don't follow college enough to give five, I guess I'll go for Kevin Johnson. I wanted a safety taken high, but from what I can see there are picks to be made at a later point in the draft.
Damn, I've failed at being a GM from the first question...

    2. Any cuts on our roster. Or any re-signings.
I'd like to cut Cam, but he's useful as a 3rd-string given he can play across the line. So I might see what the later round picks throw up, and then release him in camp.
I'd reassess the S position - do we need to keep Golden? I think Mitchell, as horrible as he was, gets another go, but I'd be sniffing around for some serious competition.

    3. Changes to coaching.
Since we signed the new concessions guy I don't think there's much to debate here.

    4. Off the field changes.
Easy - bring back block numbers.

    5. Philosophy changes on the team.
I'd be bringing in psychologists and whatnot to do something serious about team focus on gameday. But that might be more of a coaches thing than a GM.

    1. Landon Collins, Kevin Johnson, Marcus Peters, Bud Dupree, Byron Jones
    2. Troy cut, Will Allen re-sign. The rest will be performance based in training camp. I highly doubt Adams or Thomas will get cut as others have suggested.
    3. No.
    4. None that I can think of off the top of my head.
    5. None really

First- Trae Waynes,Marcus Peters and Bud Dupree,Eddie Goldman. That's the A group at which point trading back would be a serious option if all gone.

Cut Cam Thomas retro to before the signing and file a law suit for him imporsanating a Football player.Troy needs to be cut as well and I would have cut Cortez Allen .

#3 . I would add that PWP guy to the scouting Department he seems a bit crazy but I would give him a shot.

#4 . Team up with the Food Network have some Cook Off's at the Tail Gating . Winners Food gets featured in the Stadium.

#5. Train the kicker to kick it high and land the ball between the 1 and 5 forcing Teams to field it and work on the strip and recover drill . Use more multiple man fronts with more stunts from the DL and less blitzing, put the DB'S in the same time zone as the elgibles, no more 15 yard cushions.
