I forgot, successful coaches only win with scrubs.

There are always the same few on this board that almost seem anti-Steelers. They complain about Tomlin, Rooneys, Ben, Troy, Harrison, every move or non-move, holding on to players to long, etc, etc.

Who is a better owner than the Rooneys? What coach would you rather have? What player should have been cut and who was their replacement? What free agent CB should have the Steelers picked up?

Its easy to pick out the negatives, but what would you have done differently? Some people love negativity/drama but never, ever have a solution. Talk about tunnel vision...by signing Revis would we be able to re-sign Ben, Cam, Brown, and whoever else is coming down the pipeline.

I think the guys running the Steelers are doing a great job as there are so many moving pieces. Yes I can now say that Limas Sweed was a wasted pick...so now I'm smarter than the Steelers...good God

That is the key point, Tomlin is not the best coach in the world, but he's far from the worst. Who are you going to put in there that will have the midas touch, never make bad decisions, never miss on a draft pick (even know thats not his job anyway). never do anything wrong. Belichick, for all his success, has fans on their message boards who nit pick the same way. There is no perfect coach.

The owner debate is even worse, thats down right laughable.

He, and the team, knew he was lame duck status. They just went through the motions that season. It was super obvious.

Unleashing Hell... Yeah that was an embarrassing moment for Tomlin and one thats easy to laugh about. But that was 5 years ago. Isn't it about time to move on?

Wouldn't a good coach not let that happen?

You know #s were discussed, and they were miles apart. So Bill just went into cruise control. The whole team did. It's human nature. How many people do you know who try their hardest at work when they know they are leaving? Almost no one.

This is a courtesy that isn't extended to Tomlin. Bill goes 8-8, excuses are made, Tomlin utters a catch phrase that didn't pan out, and his is more egregious.

2006: Roethlisberger 18 TD, 23 INT, 75 rating... Cowher misses playoffs.
2012: Roethlisberger 26 TD, 8 INT, 97 rating... Tomlin misses playoffs.

Don't blame Ben's worst season by far on Cowher. Ben was the problem. Remember? Cowher was 29-7 with a Superbowl before Ben fell off his bike.

Cowher also had a SB roster. And if I'm not mistaken, 2012 they made the playoffs, think they went 12-4

Yes, Cowher had built a top ten defense and one of the best OL in football. As Tomlin said, you can also protect a QB with weapons... which he quickly found out isn't a thing.

2012 was an 8-8 year. Tomlin has never had a losing season.

Interesting fact, Tomlin has failed to win a playoff game in six of his eight seasons.

Ah, yes, 2012 stuck in my head because of the Tebow debacle.

And the other 2 years Tomlin was in the Superbowl...what a joke of a coach!

Someone should write an app where you click the button and an entire "Tomlin inherited Cowher's players" thread appears, to save us all the energy of posting.

It appears as though there are three themes to this thread. Let's see if I can respond to them.

First - Tomlin believes in his CB's. What exactly do you want him to say? Maybe, "our CB's suck, we are definitely going to draft one early." Maybe that way, the teams around us will know our plans, and they will not make a deal, or draft somebody else just to help us out.

Second - Unleash hell. Who is to say he didn't? Seems to me the problem was Ben had his bell rung and he came back too soon. No offense meant no rest for the defense. Then again, I was in Iraq, so I didn't watch the games.

Third - Tomlin vs Cowher. It always goes there. Given that Tomlin built a playoff team this past year that with Bell would have advanced, seems to not weigh to heavily on many here that Tomlin will forever be an underachiever.

Well... This is Tomlin's team now. Lebeau is gone with all the great players of the last ten years. I hope Tomlin is a genius like you say he is.

Where did Lebeau come into the discussion? I said he was to 2 Suberbowls...far from saying he is a genius.

I guess I'm a fan who supports the team...owners, players, coaches, etc. I may not always like or agree with what they do or say, but I support the Steelers regardless.

I know that I have zero impact on any decision that is made about this team (just like 99.9% of the people here) so to micro analyze everything is just stupid. Every argument will have two sides (except Can Thomas) every player, coach, & owner will have their strengths and weaknesses. I just gets tiring with the bashing all the time. Even the great Noll, Cowher, Art Sr. had their faults...but Tomlin seems to get bashed for everything he says (or doesn't say), for every missed draft-pick (even though he shares this with Kevin), and even his body language on the side lines. He is the current coach of the 6 Time World Champs and he will get my support until he is no longer!

I don't. I'm a fan who demands excellence from this team. Money flows from fans to owners, players, coaches, etc ... not the other way around. I don't understand the concept of paying to assume the obligation of uncritical loyalty. If the Steelers want unconditional love ...

I want to know who that .1% person is so I can swiftly kick their kneecaps for Cam Thomas.

The one on the right has a good shuttle time and change of direction. He could be our next #4 WR.
