auburn could mean a lot of different positions. DT,TE, safety, corner, RB's, center many mid round picks.

Cummings can only mean one thing. OL early isn't off the table. he's definitely round 1.

Is it safe to assume you're talking about TJ Clemmings?

If I recall the rules correctly, having Clemmings in doesn't count toward the number of allowed visits because he's local. If that's the case, it's a no brainer to invite him in and kick the tires.

Yup, no reason not to have him in for a visit.

I read that we're scheduling a private workout with Texas A&M problem child TE Cameron Clear. More of a blocking TE prospect than anything else, and has had some off-field issues and is considered soft/lazy. Ehh, why waste their time?

I saw that GB. seems they are looking for a replacement blocker for spaeth if possible. Uzomah isn't a very good blocker though.

    They see Pitt players everyday
they share the facility. They should know everything they need to know about Pitt players. But they still don't draft them? Lets see NFL Fitz, Revis, Shady,Donald. How do you like them players? Would you say they are at the top of the ladder at their positions in the NFL?

A nice argument can be made as to why they might miss talent right under their nose . One could indeed speculate that the lack of targeting a specific position did cause them to miss special talent right in front of them.

Had they been targeting a WR in the Fitz draft could they have missed him ?
If they had targeted CB'S in the Revis draft would they have missed him?

    Food for thought for sure.

I disagree I think DE and OG are off the table as well in rd 1.

All of those players were selected before the steelers pick except Mccoy who was a second round pick. Fitz was #3 overall, Revis was taken a pick in front of us, and Donald 4 picks ahead of us.

I think WR, C, DE, NT, and ILB should be off that list as well. I could see OG, OT, TE on offense. I could see OLB, CB, and S on defense. That leaves us LOTS of options.

I would add TE and ILB only because of the talent available when we pick. I think the offensive and defensive lines will be in play if a player they like falls. WR would be a shocker if they went that route.

I am starting to think wr might not be a shocker. only if one of the top 3 fall. 2 of the 3 are game changers and to good to pass up I think. if we go back to the philosophy that made us good, take best player available then maybe a good pick.
I don't know if the positions we need have a lot of separation from top to mid round.

I am just saying I wouldn't hate have brown, Bryant, cooper, heath, and bell on the field at the same time.lol Amari will be a nightmare in the slot

The offense would put up some gargantuan (for BlastF) numbers if that happened. I wouldn't hate it that's for sure, lol. If we pick a WR, I would rest easier if we would have gotten a decent OLB in FA. And we still may but I don't see any quality ones left. (I was kinda hoping for D Morgan). But you're right, I don't see an OLB that I'm in love with for our first.

Our other greatest need, CB, I would be OK with drafting anyone but Waynes and PJ Williams. If they reached a little for a CB, I would feel better than if they reached for OLB. Can't explain why, just a feeling if that makes sense.

:lolol: OL or TE are the only offensive positions I can see them taking. If a top receiver falls to us, I would think theyd be able to work out a trade in that scenario.

It was no secret that the Steelers coveted Revis. The Jets had to trade up from 25 to 14 to get Revis. They also got Carolina's 6th round pick and had to give up their 2nd and 5th rounders.

Steelers selected Lawrence Timmons with the next pick.

I was speaking specifically to the offensive side but I can see them taking a Guard if a good one was sitting there and the best value.

I don't think anything is off the table on the defensive side, I know DE is probably their strongest position but there is no one behind the starters.

There are very few positions that are out of the question in the draft. The Steelers are going to draft the player that helps them the most over the long haul. He has to fit their scheme and offer a long term solution at the position. If a 10 year starter is available at TE or OL the Steelers will take a long and hard look.
