He was still playing well when he was hurt, but age and injury were too much. Thank you Mr. Keisel.

Is this it or is there a slim chance like last off season? If they don't cut Cam Thomas soon I'm going to be upset. Thanks for a great run Brett.

Thanks Beard! Guy was a Steelers brand player through and through. I don't see him making a return like last season, don't think the Steelers will bank on him staying healthy, if the need arises to bring in help because of injury or other reason, I think they will go in a different direction than Keisel.

One of my favorite Steelers, he will be missed :beard: :steelflag:

Yeah that would be quite the ceremony and not something you see every day.

I can understand why they released him. What I cannot grasp is that Tomato Can Thomas is still on the roster.
Brett made his way upward from being a 7th round pick to a solid starter.Steeler for life...

The guy was a classic. He was not only funny as hell with that beard, but he was a good player. The years with him, Aaron Smith, Hampton, a Troy in his prime, Harrison, etc. were tremendous.

Had a feeling this was coming...and shoot who knows...come before the season starts and they need someone and hes available and wants to play...I could see him back again (like last year).

And to those complaining about Cam Thomas...while none of us know whats going on behind the scenes...some can say he has position flexibility and age on his side versus Keisel or they do not have any other backups with experience or whatever. But in the end...just because they do not release someone now doesn't mean they will make the team in the end. For now they went with the younger/position flexible guy (regardless of him stinking most of his 1st year here) and got rid of the older guy who has been injured the last couple years.

Beard, you were an awesome Steeler and you'll be missed.

I would buy the don't release him yet thing for Cam Thomas if I felt he had any redeeming quality. I have been watching football seriously since 1989 I mean really into watching and I have never seen a defensive linemen stand up after the ball was snapped and stand there(the exception of blowing the play dead) I can't even fathom a reason why even if you are not the focal point of the rush why you stand-up, giving up leverage if you even do decide to engage the guy across from you. They could have any of the numerous guys they signed to the PS or on futures contracts do that. Heck put Sellars in there with as rip as he was during his internship at camp he at least could have drove his guy back. Releasing Keisel and holding on to someone who is not meeting the "standard" makes zero sense even from a depth perspective.

i agree thorn.cam still in the building is perplexing. And no. Eyes calling him out (not for being sub par) but for not actually trying is apparently beyond the FO and the vets.... Atleast to me. Hopefully he's a cut casualty but nothing leads me to believe that as of yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an injury that he comes back.

I'm sure it's not ruled out. Though I suppose it depends on how things were handled regarding his 'release'.

    Spartacus - great sig!
