Fitz of 6 or 7 years ago would have been great but anymore I think he's way overrated.

Yes and for never making a big splash in free agency it makes you wonder.

The only way I see it make ANY sense (and even then I'm not sure) is if he would come in for dirt cheap, but why would he? You only have so many years to make NFL $, you may take less for a CHANCE at a ring, but not all that much less. All things being equal, he'd probably like to land in Pgh, but all things won't be equal, especially considering that WR is one of our most strong units, while we have lot of weak areas, like CB, S, back up RB and TE and quite possibly OLB. We only have so much cap space, and it ain't a lot. We were the #1 best passing offense last year, with a D that was middle of the road. Where should be put our resources?

Yep. I think we'll see some of the standard restructuring with Brown and Pouncey to clear some space to resign Heyward, DeCastro and some of our lower priced FAs. If we make some sensible cuts as well (Cam Thomas anyone?), we'll have a little bit of cash to play with. Not enough to be a player in free agency, but enough to get a few more value guys.

Fitz and Haley got along fine in Arizona, when Haley left Fitz had nothing but only good things to say about Haley, he liked how Haley stayed on him

He's still probably better than Lance Moore though and if we could get him for a bargain I'd be fine with it. Even though his legs might not be what they used to be he still has good hands.

I heard discussion on ESPN radio about why it wasn't wise to spend big $ on a receiver. They made the point about Bryant in Dallas. While Bryant was great, his 10 or so touchdowns was maybe 1/6th of what the offense produced. In otherwords, if he wasn't there, someone else could step up and there wouldn't be a significant drop in production. Further that with this thought, who on the two super bowl teams would be considered a premier receiver? Obviously, you need receivers that carry their own weight. We have AB. I expect Bryant and Wheaton to carry their weight next year. Thus, unless Fitz came really cheap, IMHO the Steelers need to invest their cap space in other positions, namely Defense.

Given the number of holes on D, and the need for a back up RB, left side O line, and TE do you think the Steelers could promote any of the receivers with them in camp last year to replace Moore?

I'd have jumped all over the opportunity to grab Fitz a couple of seasons back. But now we have our tall, physical and speedy receiver in Martavis Bryant. Signing Fitz may actually hinder Bryant's development. At any rate, receiver is not really a position of need now so I don't think the FO would have any interest anyway unless he can play corner. :)

we have some good speed and size in two futures guys. cj Goodwin and l'darius Washington. Washington is 6-4 and runs in the 4.3 range. he was pretty good at Missouri. I think he's similar to Bryant in needing some seasoning. Goodwin they seem to like also. he's 6-3 and fast. again just needs some time. I think we would be fine with these guys as 4-5 receivers.

I would love for us to look at Helu Jr. from the Redskins. He is the back up to Morris and has the burst of speed as bell does. I think it would be a great addition.

The Steelers have a nice receiving core on the upside with arguably the best receiver in the game. Fitzgerald will be pricey. Could he help? Heck yea. He will want to start. He stays and finishes his career in Zona.

He lost a step for sure but his hands are still gold!! With the exception of AB, the rest of our receivers have a tough time catching a ball in traffic, how many TDs did we see dropped over the years because of tight coverage and not being able to hold on, Fitz would hold on but too much money for this team plus Bryant and Wheaton look to develop into really good receivers.
