Maybe this is why Cortez Allen struggled this year?

There's a BIG difference between "hurt" and "injured..."

:lolol: Toast making excuses for little Toast. Best get your head together Cortez or this will be a major mistake which I thought was signing him to that contract.

They would have to cut him outright. The contract is bound. We can only hope that he comes in and excels.

Ok, so to buy or not to buy? As many have mentioned, he seemed to be in position frequently but played the player instead of the ball. He also got faked out of position quite a bit, which seems more mental to me. However, his tackling absolutely fell off a cliff, and that can be indicative of physical pain. The team needs to be investigating this thoroughly before making that roster bonus payment. Based on what I saw (with no view behind the scenes or into practice), I would not retain him without a pay reduction > than the $3 million roster bonus and conversion of the roster bonus to a signing bonus to spread out the pain a bit. However, I would hope that the team has more insight as insiders. It will be interesting to see what happens. Heading into this season I had pegged Allen as a solid, but unspectacular, corner who would do his job in coverage and run defense. He did neither. Was it truly due to an injury that was kept under wraps?

Allen isn't taking a pay cut one year after signing a big contract. The Steelers have to hope he can rebound next season.

Does nobody remember Like getting benched? Tez didn't play a down of football until his senior year of high school. He has like 8 total years of experience. Hell I had 8 years in by 8th grade. Don't give up on him. Comeback player of the year next year.

We have to get quality cb's on this team. Every since Tomlin missed out on Revis...its been downhill every since at that position. Last year Michigan st. Cb was there for the taking and we pick shazier because they really wanted fuller....Wow!

Revis was selected before our turn, we ended up with Timmons, not bad.

Dennard hasn't done anything yet to be banging our heads against the wall over.

The Steeler way for some time now has been to put more weighting on BPA instead of position of need. Should the team re-evaluate that way of thinking regarding the draft? I'm sure ILB was a lower position of need last year than CB, but Shazier was higher on their draft board. I'm sure the Steelers assign some sort of value to both. In other words, Shazier's BPA value was so much higher than Dennard's that it trumped the fact that CB was a higher PON than ILB. I know I'm simplifying it, but the Steelers obviously have a formula and it usually works, even though we haven't seen much of a return out of the defensive first rounders of late.

Do the Steelers have practice anymore ? How can all these players be hurt and no one can see they can't play ? I mean Coaches should know there players . You can't always be in their head , but heck you can see if they can't run, jump , or cut like they normally do.

As such I call BS .

There were also a lot of legitimate concerns about Dennard fitting into our system, and I think that played into it as much as BPA did.

Dennard looked stiff in the hips at the underwear Olympics to me. I know game film trumps all, but maybe they saw some of the same things.

Not exactly sure what Ikes angle would be to lie about it, Cortez hasn't said anything. Find that a little hard to believe he would make something like that up.

Maybe Ike still wants to play ? Maybe he knows Cortez sucks and he is hoping that the Steelers don't address the DB situation hoping Cortez will be better.

Who knows just seems strange to me that all these guys where hurt and still played and no coaches knew it .

I still think Cortez will be very good. Contrary to popular belief, they didn't just give him a contract because Keenan Lewis wanted to go home.

He had a knee injury, got it scoped a couple weeks ago.

    http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.co...ys-he-has-to-stay-healthy-and-finish-plays-in

I'm sure the coaches knew he was hurt, but unless a player is completely forthcoming, they don't know to what degree.

Yuck to Dennard. I'll be surprised if he ever plays to anywhere close to a 1st round level. If anyone wants to be ticked about missing on a corner, be ticked about missing out on EJ Gaines who made it to the 6th round.

So injuries are why Allen and Mitchell played so bad........so the Steelers either have the worst medical staff in the league for not knowing this and shutting them down OR the coaches knew it and risked further injury for the sake of what?? Sounds like excuses to me because I don;t want to believe that they were both hurting that bad and the staff ignored it.
