With their lack of depth at OLB and Jarvis being the only OLB under contract for 2015, they need a experienced player not another rookie at the position. I would offer Worilds a 3-4 deal in the 7-8 million range, if he wants 9-10 million a year then screw it. With Butler being the new DC maybe he can turn him loose to get more sacks, he tied for the team lead with 7.5 which was underwhelming. They should try to re-sign Moats for depth also, I see them drafting another OLB in the draft also probably within the first 3 rounds.

I say we've seen the best he has to offer and I don't really think he's worth a long term contract. If he wants to go out and test the market and find out he's not what he thinks he's worth then I would be open to bringing him back for a team friendly rate. But otherwise, I'll see him in AZ.

Worilds has something to say about that, you can bet he'll test the market, it's almost a certainty that a team will offer him more than the Steelers will. Add to it that I don't think he likes being here, he's about as good as gone.

I say draft a rookie for his spot or have Moats fill in, and use Worlids' money to sign Bruce McCain, extend DeCastro, Beachum, and Cam Heyward

To me it all comes down to the contract/money! If he wants a Woodley like contract, then no! If he wants something reasonable and something the team could get out of and not have a ton of dead money then fine. Luckily he did have a down year so that could help play into things. The Steelers now look smart for only doing the tag and not giving him a huge deal last off season (while yes he didn't live up to the 9+ mil he made, still for the long term it was smart).

I dont see it happening. Not even at 7-8 million. I honestly think Woirlds and perhaps his agent believe he is better then he is. Bottom line he will be overvalued with respect to his playmaking
    ability.

I'm not sure I'd go over $5M/year. But I'm sure whatever we offer him, he'll be able to get more elsewhere.

5-6 million a year tops. Although I'm not sure tagging him for another year just as a stopgap isn't a bad idea either.

This. Worilds been here 5 years and we've seen the best we are going to get. Bring in another free agent and draft 2 other OLBs. I would also sign one or two undrafted free agent OLBs. We have to built our depth and hopefully we'll find a stud.

Not sold on Jarvis Jones just yet. ;)

    This!!!!!

I'm hoping he signs 10 mil /yr contract somewhere else and has every snap....a 3rd RD comp for him would be sweet

I'd pass. He's a nice backup, but IMO we'll never have a dominant pass rush again if he's one of our 2 starting OLBs.

He sucks at setting the edge versus the run and over pursues on read option type plays. He is still not as god as the current version of 36 year old JH. No way I pay big for him.

Personally I think he was misused in this defense. He should have been rushing the passer more. And using the transition tag on him again, NO. He I believe won't be back, like said someone will throw more then the brass will pay. Proven pass rushers are a commodity.
I believe Harrison will be back, as a situational pass rusher/player. Moats is a nice player to have. Have to look to the draft for help. Better hope Jarvis Jones doesn't falter. Can Zumwalt compete for a spot?

McPhee is going to command some big dough as well freak. They really need to see what the Ben contract is going to be as well as looking to give Cam Heyward a long term deal. He will count over 9 large this season due to the five year option.

Oh, and the secondary. McCain and Blake I hope will be back as well as Will Allen. Need at least two corners in the draft, two safeties, OBL, TE. Big year for Shamarko. Why he was not used this year when he was a special teams ace amazes me. Is that all he is? Let's hope not.

We're in a bad spot at OLB, but I'd rather not re-sign Worilds. Too much money for a guy who spends more time whining than he spends sacking QBs. We simply need to hit a HR in the draft at this spot.

Is Worilds thought of as a whiner around here? I agree I'd have liked to see him get more sacks, but the whining thing is news to me.

That's how I think of him. In the past he's whined about not being given a chance to play, and this season about being asked to drop into coverage instead of being allowed to rush the QB all the time. Obviously because more sacks = more money in free agency.

I really just don't like his vibe.

we're set on offense pert near

    butt hey
the rookies will not see the field for 3 years on defense
I really don't see Butler being any different than Dick
