All the names of this guy or that, as it's been anything but a mystery the last few years. The FO has refused to allow other teams to interview him, and they have given him more money to keep him here for a reason. This talk of " Should this guy or that guy" get a look is wasted space as this site. Butler will be and should be the guy

Is Tomlin going to pretend to hire him, or will we finally admit that Tomlin is just a figurehead?

is it a red flag that they haven't announced it? I mean if he is I would go ahead and do it so nobody comes calling with a better offer

Didn't Timmons play in all 16 games as a rookie? When did a linebackers coach start signing players to contracts and cutting them? :roflmao:

I wonder about that too. But since the Steelers didn't announce the LeBeau resignation, (LeBeau did), they may have been caught unready. But if Monday goes by without announcing Butler, I'll really start to wonder.

They have to go through the process. I'm sure there are rules about how many people you have to interview and when you can do it.

If it is indeed Butler. They'd likely need to work out some agreement terms both sides we're comfortable with before announcing. New position = new contract/money and terms...even if both sides agree to stay together.

The article I reat yesterday in the Post Gazette said that Butler's contract has expired so that maybe why there is a delay because contract negotiations have to take place.

Maybe they are going to clean the Defensive house. The next guy should be able to bring in his own guys. But he might interview the remaining to see if he wants to retain them. I believe the Rooney Rule applies to any hiring.

If you're going to fire DL, why hire his disciple? I would think they only let him go as they want to go in a different direction, and Butler only knows DLs system I would think. He's a goner in my opinion.

People keep saying that. If your boss was fired and you got his job, would you run it the same exact way? I'm sure Butler has his own ideas he'd like to try out.

I don't know if he will be good or not but I don't expect him to be a carbon copy of DL.
